Lahev: Light amber to amber coloured, small, but stable white foam; some lemony-fruity notes - dried fruits too - in the sweetish-malty nose; moderate to solid bitter-sweet flavour, medium bodied; lingering bitter- slightly mouldy - caramelly finish. Not too bad.......

3.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 mansquito (1809) - washington, Washington DC, USA - JAN 1, 2012
Euro Market, Queens 500ml ($2): Pours a muddy amber with a little off-white head. Aroma is mild at best with a little bit of fruitiness. Taste is watered down doppelbock. Almost like an American Dark Lager in taste. However, it is actually remarkably smooth and well-balanced in its own weird way. An interesting take on the doppelbock.

2.1 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20 seymour (782) - Saint Louis, Missouri, USA - OCT 12, 2011
Tasted large bottle from Global Foods in Kirkwood, Missouri, USA into standard pint glass. Poured a clear, dark copper color with weak beige head, faded quickly, no lace. Aromas of syrup, some roasted barley. Toasty, roasty, but almost sickly-sweet flavor. Where are the hops? Somewhat fruitier than you’d expect from lager yeast, but maybe it’s a sign of complex malts. Thin body and mouthfeel. Perhaps they used simple sugar to increase the alcohol, which would explain the phenols as well. Technically, Doppelbocks should have 7-10% ABV, this one says 7.5%. An okay, drinkable dark Euro lager, but a pretty watered-down Doppelbock. Fun bottle design, at least.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 shrubber85 (5048) - Greenville, Indiana, USA - MAY 22, 2011
Bottle. Prune, chocolate malt and astringent alcohol aroma. Chestnut color with small head. Sweet raisin/prune malt and mild astringent/bitter alcohol flavor. Medium body but light for a doppelbock. Pretty good - on the light side style-wise.
2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 DrnkMcDermott (2439) - Downers Grove, Illinois, USA - APR 27, 2011
22oz. green bottle, $1.50 @ Binny’s. Labeled as "Bakalář 555 Double Bock." Like the Light beer, this pokes a little peak of foam out the neck of the bottle after opening. Slight bit of skunk, but also some dark, grainy malts. Pleasant russet brown in glass, very tiny particles of grain, few bubbles to support a thin wisp of foam. Taste carries those dark malts through, a little smoother and less grainy than yesterday’s Dark Lager. Not much alcohol, but still has some substance to it. Bit of dark fruit edge, but still somewhat grainy, and can let some adjunct on your tongue if you don’t watch out.
