Comes out of the bottle a dark chocolate brown with a fine-bubbled tan head. Very inviting. Crisp, malty aroma has hints of apple and caramel. Flavor has a malty core with a subtle caramel undertone and a fruity hint - not complex, but definitely pleasing. Mouthfeel has average fizz and thickness, still not too shabby. Them Czechs know how to brew decent beer!

Dark brown/cider color; Medium slightly creamy body; Aroma of sweet toasted malt, caramel, & some chocolate; Flavor of roasted sweet malt, caramel/toffee, some hops, and chocolate; Overall, definitely on the sweet side - but enjoyable.

Backlog rating 1-23-2009 (Bottle at Fort Wayne Gathering) When this beer was poured, it had a small tan head that had good retention, transparent body, visible carbonation, one ring of lacing, and a brown hue with a red tint to it. The Aroma is burnt malt. The Taste is sweet, malty and caramel. The Palate is smooth and this is a medium bodied Dunkel. The final result is this is not the tastiest beer that I have rated, lacks character, and it is not a beer that I will want to drink again as this beer really missed the mark for its style.

Pours dark brown color with a medium head. Aroma of sugar, malts, toffee and yeast. Flavor of sugar, caramel, malts and some toffee.

Keg in the street at JZP. Dark reddish brown with a proud off-white head. Some burnt sugar character and roasted malt. Caramel. Served a little too cold perhaps.

.5l bottle from Euro Market in Queens, unfortunately not a very fresh bottle it seems. Pretty dark rosy brown, tan head. rich souring dark malt nose, with smooth sweet palate. A bit musty and oxidized but this is still tasty, though a milder dark lager.

This beer was a suprce, got it in a bottle. Loved the color nice dark one and the licorice smell that came. and the licorice taste is great.

Clear amber with an off-white head. Aroma is sweet malty and caramel. Flavor is quite sweet and light bitter. Sweet finish. Watery. Too sweet for my liking. 180112
