COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Dark lager has caramel sweetish taste; here you can find slight scent of burnt malt. Its taste is full and the foam dense. This brand is immediately intended for refreshing the humankind’s neater half.

Deed dark red colored with medium sized beige head. Aroma is dominated by nice smoke and fine sweet roastiness, some caramel also here. Medium bodied. Flavor is more sweet with some dried fruits and plum, some roastiness in still strongly sweet aftertaste with mild hops. Well, nice aroma, overly sweet flavor.

0.5 l bottle. Dark reddish brown color with medium peige head. Caramelly and toasty aroma with licorice, dark bread and hint of grass. Caramelly and toasty flavor with some roasty charcoal notes towards finish. A bit watery palate. A bit boring ordinary dark lager.

Dark red colour with medium-sized foamy head. Aroma is dominated by sweet caramellic malts with nicely roasted edge. Notes of coffee and spices. Dryish, roasted, a bit grassy aftertaste. Could have a little stronger body.

Dark ruby color, good creamy beige head, lace. Caramelly, a bit grassy-woody hoppy and sourish nose. Palate is quite watery. Caramelly sweetness and some toasted notes. Aftertaste is woody hoppy leaving long bitter flavor. Ok dunkel, could have another one.

Back from a Czech Republic pub-crawl this is part of my express ratings for the “typical” Světlý 11°- (Czech light Pils), Světlý 12°+ (Czech Pils), Polotmavý (Czech Amber Lagers) and Tmavý (Czech Black Lagers). Non-typical beers will receive personalized descriptions after the express ratings.
-------- /> How: Tap at Pivovarsky Klub, Prague
The look: Almost black body with a medium tan head.
To me a typical Czech Tmavé (Czech Black Lager) is: Dark malts and barely any roastiness sensation. Some dark fruits flavours (raisins with a little figs, dates and prunes) wrapped in smooth dark caramel (borderline toffee) and a subtle chocolate note. A bit bready. Moderately sweet without much hops presence and only a mild bitterness (voluntary unbalanced it seems). Very smooth body, like a watery cream.
This one: As above but thinner. Below average.

500ml bottle (alko)
Dark red, thin head. Rather nondescript sweet burnt malt aroma. Not unpleasant, but just lacking any real details. Taste follows that theme. It’s an OK full roasty body with pleasant carbonation, and there’s some slightly grassy hops, but nothing really jumps out of the glass. A little buttery in places. Walnut paper hoppiness in the finish, and again a little grassy. I can believe that a non-pasteurised non-filtered version of this would be pretty good, but the dead version is a little dead.

(Bottled) Hazy, very dark ruby with a small, tanned and firm, lacy head. Roasted-malty aroma with some coffee and licorice, and hints of chlorine-grassy hops and bloody iron. Roasted-malty, slightly sweet flavor with some dark fruit and a dryish, mildly ashy finish. Medium-bodied, slightly foamy-carbonated palate. A reasonably balanced dunkel, but nothing more.
