Tasting at Matt’s
Black color with large head. Aroma of caramel and wood, with depth and layers, with chocolate and light sourness from the dark malts. Rich malt and chocolate flavor, moderately sweet, with a mild bourbon note.
Excellent as usual.

12 oz. bottle, pours black with a few bubbles of tan head. Nose is complex, with whiskey barrels, vanilla, light smokiness, and roasted malt. Flavour is robust and elegant, with complex whiskey barrels adding to the medium smoky base, with roasted malt and vanilla. Very well-rounded, masking the ABV very well. Very soft palate. Excellent BA impie.

330ml bottle @ Les Crepes de Sophie, Shrewsbury, shared with Blackhaddock, Fin & Loz. A very special beer indeed. Slick, powerful bourbon notes perfectly blended with smoked imperial stout malts. A sumptuous, decadent beer that demands to be savoured.

23rd Aug 2014: shared bottle with Fin and Mat at Sophie’s Creperie. What a lovely beer, so smooth and interesting. The barrel aging has mellowed the base beer and given it an extra dimension. Chocolate notes abound and blend very well with the old oakiness of the barrels: most impressive.

Bottle courtesy of Matt, (cheers Matt!) We had this sat in the Creperie Sophie, in company of Mat, Loz, Jeremy and some of Jeremy’s family, Shrewsbury, Saturday 23rd August 2014 Wonderfully soft and silky, warming, its smooth and has an air of indulgence about it, like a very fancy chocolate. Black with a light beige head. Superb, wonderful easy drinking big beer. The barrel ageing works wonderfully here integrating well with the beer as opposed to dominating which sadly is often the case with many other big beers like this. This is the best beer of the day and a beer that truly plays to Mennos strengths as a brewer, cheers Matt. A8 A5 T9 P4 Ov17 4.3

purchased at de molen biershop, the smokyness is still there, great moderate barrel characteristics. The base beer is a big smoky beast, this is great
