Pours dark brown with thin tan head. Aromas are bourbon and roasted malt, some chocolate. Taste is more of the same.

De Molen - Hemel & Aarde -- Appearance: 4/5. Cola-brown-black with so little head I was worried it had lost a seal in the cap. Almost flat in appearance, but a very tiny head appears after a few seconds and then fades. -- Aroma: 6/10. Smells fine, faint malt and smoke, difficult to get much nose off of it. Slight, pleasant sourness. -- Taste: 9/10. Gentle smokiness to start, with a *rich* chocolate midbody and lingering mocha over the tongue. Very sweet, with some acidity. Like a dark chocolate syrup brewed into beer, in a good way. Definite notes of caramel. Some molasses in the end. Pure dessert beer, yum. -- Palate: 4/5. Very smooth and silky, with only gentle lingering astringency and very milky, cloying sweetness, in a good way. -- Overall: 17/20. Really, the only failing in this beer is the lack of aroma intensity, but that’s the only real flaw to be found. It’s a marvelously chocolatey beer, and I feel like the overall rating score doesn’t really do it proper justice. I don’t find that much smoke to it though; it’s pretty subtle, which isn’t a bad thing. -- -- TL;DR: De Molen once again makes a world class imperial stout, for the hundreth time. Drink, enjoy.

From a 33 cl bottle from the Borefts beer festival 2012. Pours a dark clear cola brown with a quickly dissipating tan head. Aroma of bourbon. Flavors of licorice, oak, vanilla, dark fruits. Boozy finish.

Thanks Kevin! Deep brown, near still with short cream head. Nice Smokey aroma. Taste is lightly smoked, dark fruits, wood barrel. Really digging this in the 30 degree heat.

Bottle (330 ml). Bottled on July 2nd 2013. Black with a medium beige head and little lacing. Aroma is peated and smokey with bourbon, chocolate, vanilla and light liquorice. Taste is also of peat/smoke, moderate roastiness, bourbon, milk chocolate, vanilla and liquorice. Full body. Medium carbonation. Lingering peated finish. The bourbon mellow the peated aspect of this beer, so the balance gets better. Complex, warming and tasty Imperial Stout.

Ett litet kraftpaket. Chocklad, russin i aromen. Bra balans i kroppen, fin fyllighet. Lagom kolsyrad

Bottle, 25cl. A minimal-sized dark beige head forms over a more or less black body. The aroma is lightly boozy, with roasted matls dominating. Coffee, dark sugars and chocolate, and a little touch of licorcie and molasses. It’s full-bodied and warming, with a soft carbonation and lots of sweet maltyness. Chocolate, coffee and dark sugars too, both initally and in the end. Sure a nice one, although a bit on the dark side and one dimensional. 140509
