No head, clear cognac colour. Whisky nose, whisky malt, distilled if anything. Raisins, sweet, brandy, sultana’s, smoked malt in the finish. Syrupy, oily MF, alcoholwarming; A bit too sticky. That was to say something negative. OTOH, it is a rich, powerful brew. And it costs the earth, but I still recommend it.

Acquistata in un negozio di gastronomia a monteverde, lasciata invecchiare un annetto. Nonostante la sua complessità, si beve che è un piacere. Solo non sembra affatto una birra.

Bottled. An amber beer with no head. The aroma has notes of malt, honey, caramel, and wood. The flavor is sweet with notes of malt, caramel, and alcohol, leading to a dry finish. Thanks fiulijn for sharing.

Una discreta birra che però manca del corpo edella complessità che mi aspettavo

Bottle, courtesy of fiulijn. Pours cloudy deep amber with no head. Aroma is overripe fruity and dark malty. Sweet, dark caramelish, vanilla and slight wooden. Lingering smooth caramelish and subdued fruity. Elegant, fragile and smooth. Lasting dark malty impression, sweet and phenolic mixed with alcohol.

courtesy of fiulijn. Complex nose. Reminiscent of whisky throughout. Good but I am not overwhelmed by this beer.

Bottle. Pours a hazy pale amber color with a very small fast disappearing off-white head. Has a fruity woody and alcoholic dark fruit and caramel aroma. Sweetish malty caramel flavor with hints of dark fruit. Has a very sweet malty caramel finish with hints of dark fruit and some woody hints.

courtesy of fiulijn - clear amber-brown colour with absolutely no foam; oxidized and nutty aroma, quite whisky-like nose; no carbonation, oily and fairly sweet, sticky and very long nutty and slightly peachy aftertaste with warming alcohol notes

The Xyauyù Ultimate tasting
http://tinyurl.com/xyauyu1

Hazy color, dark amber, with red hue; flat. Caramel aroma, with some oxidisation, like a dubious quality Madeira and Chinese rice wine, some alcohol and very light phenol; later there is a very light fruity note (prunes); not extremely inviting overall. Sweet malt flavor, very sugary and sticky; therefore the alcohol constitutes a pleasant note. The final is just sweet, without much else to say. Good for a sweet tooth like mine, but really not much complexity in this one.

Big, huge, massive thanks to SHIG for trucking this beauty across the pond for us Tampa geeks to lush over. I owe you one Shawn! Pours still clear copper without the slightest sign of a head. The aroma pushes up sweet dark fruitiness like figs, prunes and plums as well as caramel and some mild booziness. The taste is smooth as silk and sweet like nectar and coming across as a rich sweet dark fruit juice reduction of plums, pears and figs mixed with iced cider and a modest level of creamy caramel candy. This one is yummy sweet nectar goodness.

Bottle: Poured a caramel brown with no head. The aroma is boozy and sweet caramel. The taste is sweet caramel malt, dark fruit, and boozy tongue all of which actually hides the 13% alcohol. #100 Italian beer rate!
