A demi-sec ale brewed with whiskey yeasts, from the island of Islay, creating striking dryness and lively effervescence. The nose showcases almond and tropical fruits. The palate is malty, with flavors of plum, dried apricot, and spice. It’s finish is dry and warming from the high alcohol. Rare on tap!

Deep amber color with a smal tan layer on top. Toffee, a bit sweet fruity and some spices in the aroma. Thick nice body with a soft carbonation. Tad sweet. Nice mellow sweet flavor with some spices, mild fruity, toffee and some yeast. Well masked alcohol. Nice tasty evening sipper.

750ml bottle from Enoteca Sileno, Melbourne. 2008 vintage. A cloudy dark amber beer with no discernable head. Initial gush of foam on bottle opening. Aroma has strong brandy notes with notes of alcohol, toffee sweet malts, Christmas cake, cloves, and subtle marzipan. Flavour is very sweet and malty like a brandy with light spiciness and alcoholic warmth. No hop presence to speak of (which may reflect the vintage). Palate is sticky sweet and fullish bodied with a flat carbonation and astringent dryish finish. I suspect this is maltier, sweeter and less hoppy than fresher bottles. OK for that Winter sipper by the fire.

750ml dark olive-green bottle with embossed logo and a wax sealed cork, poured into a Tulip glass. Appearance is hazy copper colored with no head. Aroma of raisins, apricot marmalade, caramel and figs. Flavours of raisins, apricot marmalade, figs, caramel, toffee, spices and nutty notes. Taste is heavy sweet and medium bitter. Palate is full bodied, syrupy texture and soft carbonation. Baladin Elixir is flavorful but a little too sweet.

Very sweet and rich aromas. Reddish copper thin white head lots of suspended matter. Huge round ball of rich woody sweetness. Leaves a sweet dryness behind.
