08/03/2012 Open Baladin Roma (10cl tasting).

100ml from tap, served in a snifter glass at Open Baladin. Clear amber body colour, missing head, bright surface. Aromatic with dried and spiced fruits. In-depth flavour of dried fruits, like apricot, vanilla oak and toffee. Velvety vinous throughout with warmth from the alcohol. A very completely made brew. Enjoying (Roma, 31.03.2012).

Lovely barley wine, so delicate like silk. Aroma is vanilla and some sweet wine, fruited. Flavour is sweet and relative low-body that makes it drinkable compared to other barleys.

From bottle. Pours a deep golden/orange color, almost amber, with no head to speak of. Aroma is sweet and fruity, complex and warming. Dried grapes, apricots and peaches, white wine, little funk and wood. Taste is similar and reminds of a sweet straw wine. Some wood, little booze, stone fruits and raisins. Almost full bodied with very soft carbonation. Extremely enjoyable and complex. Very wine-like. It reallt reminds of a sweet white wine and is much less "beer" tha its counterpart Terre. Yet it possible even more satisfying.

Bottle @ Miss January / AA Meeting Afterparty Tasting, March 2012. Pours clear dark copper with bubbles on top. Nose is fruity and rich. Lots of white wine and oak. Matured and vinous. Toffee and caramel beneath. Complex. Lovely flavor. Nuts, caramel, dark fruit, oak and white wine. Sticky and oily. Pleasant warmth . . Best Barley Wine I’ve had in a while.

10 cl pour from the bottle at Open Baladin Roma. Very fragrant nose of oak, white wine, sherry, vanilla. Well oxidized. Deep salmon pink to red with no lace. Flavor of Sauternes, sweet white wine, a bit of honey, vanilla, sherry, alcohol. Complex and lovely, with lots of barrel. Soft and silky body. Very low acidity, but the light tatness works well to balance. Excellent.
