Hand pumped @ Baladin bistrot, Milano. Nice head with good duration. Color is amber. Aroma and taste are nuts, caramel, rich fruits, malt and hops. Nice and smooth.

Cask at Open Baladin, Roma, 09/02/14. Clear copper with a big old off white head that retains well. Nose is bready malt, biscuit, toffee, dark fruit nip, light tobacco strains. Taste comprises light toffee, nutty, bread dough, biscuit crumble, dark fruits. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, smooth on the palate, light bitterness in the closure. Ok stuff, typical Italian take on an English style, looks and feels good, not a huge amount of depth to the aroma and flavour but a pleasant enough easy drinker.

Hand-pulled in Open Baladin, Rome on 10th Dec 2013. Well I had to try an Italian Bitter on cask didn’t I? I’d already had an Italian Saison and Gose (to name but two brews). Anyway, this poured a nice deep amber and had a white crown on top. Malty front, middle and back: the molasses barely being held back by whatever hops were used. Treacle flavoured and rather sweet as a consequence, I liked it. Of course after the Gose anything was going to taste sweet, but this is a pretty malty molasses majoring beer even if you’ve just had a bag of sweets. I like sweeter brews, this one was a little one sided and unbalanced, but I still enjoyed it, so much so the wife insisted we left to sight see again before I could order another.

Weak fruity aroma. Short thick durable head. Amber cloudy body. Fruity sweetness with a little bit of hoppy bitterness in taste. Aroma and taste is somehow simmilar to homemade wine.

On tap at Baladin Bistrot, Milano. Dark copper brown, nice head. Complex spicy caramel, starts sweetish, ends balanced. Slightly watery texture. i would say it is more of a Scotch Ale.

Molto beverina, a me è piaciuta.
