UPDATED: MAY 16, 2010 750ml bottle (One Pint Pub, Helsinki)
Clear rich gold, small ring head. Lovely citrussy aroma, tangerine and a little limey. Gently spiced retronasals, ginger mostly, but not dominant. Full sweet palate, but not sticky. Lovely gentle grains, and a really subtle ginger element that pervades every corner, but again doesn’t dominate. Finish has lovely fresh green hops and zingy tangerine zest. Occasionally a waft of alcohol, but not boozy ever, and that was quite rare.
Rerate of: (6:3:6:3:10=2.8) 750ml bottle (OPP, HBF2010) - shared with Miksu
6 Sweet estery aroma, but decent grainy maltiness
3 Hazy mid gold, tight head
6 Lots of fruity esters in the retronasals, and no shortage of grains
3 A bit too dry, some white pepper too
10 A little sickly.
Hmmm - this sounds like what Miksu had (we wrote our reviews completely independently), but this is very different from what we had in OPP later - was it a different beer?

I picked this one up because of the cool bottle and the fact that’s it’s made in Italy. I have some Italian relatives on my mother’s side of the family. Anyway. I’m finding this beer to be fairly underwhelming. First off, there’s no head to speak of. No lacing. Is it colored water? The aroma is pine and grass. And it’s very faint. Taste is a bit sweet. There’s a hint of spice that’s actually not bad. I can’t say what spice it is.. it’s somewhat peppery. Maybe it’s myrrh.. whatever that is. Not a bad tasting beer although that taste doesn’t stick around for long. Light to medium body. This was interesting to try, but I won’t be getting it again.

Draught at the Bavarian Lodge in Lisle. Pale golden with a creamy white head. Aroma is light citrusy with a hint of cedary wood. Flavor is a bit bitter with some spicy woody notes. Notes of orange peel. Nice spicy character but very drinkable with a rich palate.

Bottle 750ml. Delicious beer. Aromas of citrus, spice, and dough. Taste is sweet, some bitterness in the background, good length. Silky palate, and medium bodied. Dark yellow, the head doesn’t last.

Bottle 750ml.
Clear medium yellow orange color with a small, fizzy, fair lacing, fully diminishing, white head. Aroma is moderate malty, toasted, moderate yeasty, soap, spicy, ginger - myra. Flavor is moderate sweet and bitter with a average to long duration, a spicy bitter finish. Body is medium, texture is watery to oily, carbonation is soft. [20091003]

Bottled 750ml. -Murky orange/golden coloured, medium sized white head, peppery flowery nose. Lots of floaties all over the glass. Sweet malty, citrusy and yeasty with peppery notes. Presence of honey in the finish. Interesting, but all in all average brew.
