UPDATED: JAN 5, 2007 Bottle at St Albans Beer Festival, September 2006. Hazy gold colour. Very spicy, peppery aroma with what I could swear to be mothballs in the equation too. Just the same on the palate with some sweet, tropical fruit touches. There’s something perfumed and a bit cosmetic running throughout. A rather odd beer that, I have to admit, wasn’t really to my taste.

Its got a nice all around flavor of malts and nuts. Caramel-toffee with that’s not overly sweet. the appearance with dark blond with a smooth carbonation fizz.

Bottle. Hazy amber coloured with a huge off white head. Sweet aroma of malts, fruits and dish washer. Fruity flavour with notes of apricots. Strange beer.

Bottle that I picked up from Bellinger’s Jet Garage, Grove, Nr Wantage, Oxon consumed 31.10.10 Maybe I should have had this a little cooler (I had at just below room temp’) but suffice to say I’m not bothered by this beer at all. There is a sickly honey sweetness throughout. I don’t get the ginger but acknowledge that it is spicy, in fact I don’t really get this beer full stop, not my thing I’m afraid. A5 A4 T5 P3 Ov10 2.7

Tap at Ginger Man. Hazy orange-amber beer. Aroma is lightly fruity and sweet. A bit of honeyed sweetness. Light orange and cherry and a bit of ginger. It’s got a few good things going on, but it’s generally poor. A little bit watery and muddled.

UPDATED: APR 12, 2007 Hazy orange with vigorous white head. Floral aroma. Flavor is yeasty with spice, I thought it had a distinct note of black pepper.

Disappointing, especially given how expensive this beer is and how pretty the bottle (not that bottle aesthetics correlates to taste). This beer is golden and fizzy with a thin white head. The taste is very much of the Belgian style, with apparently Belgian yeast being used. Definite notes of alcohol burn your tongue as you lap up this strong Italian nectar. I felt the beer leans more toward the dry side than the sweet, and the hops are detectable, balanced pretty evenly with the light pale ale-style malt. Very Belgian, IMHO, and of the dry, alcohol-tinged variety. Not my cup of tea, but I'm glad I tried it.

Dark amber, light white head. Nose is semi-sweet, like an OK white wine, with some apple notes. Flavor is odd, kind of like white wine with hints of grass; a light sweetness. Medium bitterness. Unbalanced, with weird spices, apple notes. Final analyis: Kind of icky (& way overpriced).
