The amber version of OPEN, OPEN RISERVA combines the features of caramel and amber malts with the aromas of American hops. The result is an explosion of well-balanced taste, where the biscuit aromas coming from cereals and the notes of dried fruit blend perfectly with the bitterness and the aromatic scents of hops. The body is strong but never excessive, to ensure it is easy to drink. The head is thick and creamy. 16.8°, 33EBC.

Big beige head. Amber body made hazy by floaties, with strong carbonation. Light fruity honeyish aroma with spicy herbal notes. Odd. Dry-sweet funky earthy fruity taste with alcoholic honey notes. Light body. Fizzy, slightly mealy mouthfeel with lingering heat at the end. Dryish mealy funky fruity spicy aftertaste with alcoholic notes. It’s kind of elegant, muted, and low-key, and not really that impressive. Not a bad beer, but I don’t think I’d buy it again. (0.75l bottle, from wine monopoly, Vika, Oslo.)

Bottle at home. Pours a hazy dark amber colour with a creamy, light beige, medium, head. Has a fruity aroma with aprocot, fruity hops and some pine and caramel. The flavour is still fruity and sweet with apricot and nice balanced hops in the end. Has a slick and smooth mouth feel, and a light to medium bitterness. A balanced and fruity APA. Nice one!

Amber body, white head. Aroma has nutty malts, toffee, more hops than usual APA. Flavour has lots of malty sweetness, but there is way high bitterness. Hops are on the back and they come really harsh on the aftertaste. Bitterness over the malts. Great IPA, not APA.

Bottle pour at the Great Japan Beer Festival in Osaka (7/13/2013). Fruity and bit stinky. Orange/amber color. Sweet fruit > flattens out quickly > some balance in final. Seems much more like a fruit beer than an APA (at the festival, it was called an amber ale).

Bottle at the GJBF Osaka 2013 a lovely amber golden pour, a definite hoppy aroma. Much more hoppy than the classica but the flavor had a light zesty carbonation with an enjoyable hoppy aftertaste. More true to style than the Open Classica. I think I have the taste as the brewmaster at Baladin as I enjoyed all of their beers at the fest-especially the Isaac & Super.

Bottled. Orange gold color. Yeasty, earthy nose. Flavors of stewed fruit, earth, esters, chocolate, caramel. Decent, not great.

Nice creamy longlasting head. Aroma is leafs, bark, caramel, grass, herbs, weeds, grain, hops. Taste is slightly sweet, caramel malts, bark, soil, weeds, leafs, grain, hints of cardboard and almond essence. Medium bitterness. Not really sure what I think about this one. Not my favorite at least.
