COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Water, malt, hops and yeast. That’s it! Why? It took a simple beer to express a simple project. And it took an innovative beer to express an innovative project. This is how OPEN BALADIN was created: a beer with a “strong” personality and at the same time delicately captivating. And this is how this beer – the first “open source” beer in Italy – has slowly captured the hearts (and especially the throats…) of those who enjoy good, healthy and informed drinking. 27 EBC, 16.8°

Bottle thanks to some kind person at mesandsim’s tasting. Most likely them. A new one on me I think, not had much Italian beer apart from the obvious shite lagers. Strange for an IPA, more like a Belgian tripel. As an IPA, no. I quite enjoyed it though. Strong yeast in the nose and in the flavour, some fruit, brown sugar.

Bottle. Lagery aroma, weak hint of grapefruit. Cloudy dark yellow colour. Good stable white head. The flavour starts off sweet and a bit yeasty. Turns quite alcoholic and spicy, seemingly from the yeast. More yeast in the aftertaste. Except for the rather dry finish, this is a Belgian tripel IMO.

Non è una IPA e non è una belgian, al naso spiccano il malto e luppolo in egual misura, in bocca è piatta e banale,nè carne nè pesce.

Bottled@Punavuoren Ahven, Helsinki. Hazy orange colour, not much head. Aroma is caramel malts, fruits, wood, some earth, mild spices and some slight yeastyness as well. Flavour is quite similar with some quite strong yeasty notes. Flavour was quite dull.

Bottled 750ml (Punavuoren Ahven, BB 03/2012)
Hazy orange color, small white head. Sweet fruity-mango, honeyish aroma. Tickling carbonation. Mango-apricot berries in the flavor. Quite typical Italian strong ale.

0,25 l bottle from myBrewerytap.com. Peaches, barnyard, a little Belgian yeast. Pleasant, a small bottle is really too small a measure for this stuff.

A reasonably nice pale ale with floral, hoppy aroma, moderate bitterness and almost hidden strength. Golden, almost clear with average head. Aftertaste tends towards alcohol. Interesting bottle (25 cl) with the label molded to it, including a description text on the back. @ Eataly Bologna.

75cl bottle, Rehills, Ncl. A sharp, yeasty aroma made me initially think of a poor UK BCA, however, thankfully, this does not transfer to the taste. A faint strawberry sweetness to this golden brown ale, a bit sugary and a very pleasant in the aftertaste and finish. Some brown sugar creeps into the aroma, as does some alcoholic spirit. It stays rounded though and citrus creps into the flavour late on. Good stuff.
