Water, malt, hops and yeast. That’s it! Why? It took a simple beer to express a simple project. And it took an innovative beer to express an innovative project. This is how OPEN BALADIN was created: a beer with a “strong” personality and at the same time delicately captivating. And this is how this beer – the first “open source” beer in Italy – has slowly captured the hearts (and especially the throats…) of those who enjoy good, healthy and informed drinking. 27 EBC, 16.8°

Caramellosa, leggermente fruttata, leggermente amara, prevale il gusto dei malti. Neanche il leprotto marzolino o il cappellaio matto la potrebbero definire una apa, comunque. Si fa bere, buona!

light amber, hazy, minimal foam; sirup, citrus, bread aroma?; medium sweetness, light bitterness; medium body, oily feel; Overall: good beer, weird APA

Bottle. Pours a crystal clear amber body with a large, long-lasting creamy white head. Nice one. Nose is protruding tones of gooseberries and strawberries, "Love Hearts" candy, pale malts, mild caramel and faint sulfur and straw in the back. Taste is pale malts, caramel, biscuits, almond essence and hints of grains and straw. Medium body and carbonation. A somewhat strange creation from Baladin, and not entirely successful, although both looks and aroma are inviting. Decent enough, though. But APA? Why not make an "Italian Ale" category and be done with it! :-P

Orange body, almost amber and with stable frothy head. Modern hops, caramel body, some toasty malts, herbal and grapefruit bitterness yet moderate. (Fancy 25cl bottle from Eataly Torino)

250 ml bottle. Pours a dark copper colour with a firm white head. Aroma of caramel malts, berries and white grapes. Flavour of grassy hops, caramel, berries, straw and vanilla ice cream. Medium bodied, smooth mouthfeel and soft carbonation. Very sweet and fruity. The hops are pretty much gone, which is a shame.

Botella de 250ml. Vaso Shaker. Color dorado y apariencia cristalina. Refrescante. 250ml bottle. Shaker glass. Golden color, clear appearance. Close & lasting crown of white foam. Citric aromas & slight tartar notes. Slight sour fruit -grapefruit, granny Smith apples, some white grape- at first followed by piney bitterness. Light to medium body. Moderate carbonation.
