Water, malt, hops and yeast. That’s it! Why? It took a simple beer to express a simple project. And it took an innovative beer to express an innovative project. This is how OPEN BALADIN was created: a beer with a “strong” personality and at the same time delicately captivating. And this is how this beer – the first “open source” beer in Italy – has slowly captured the hearts (and especially the throats…) of those who enjoy good, healthy and informed drinking. 27 EBC, 16.8°

Tap at Open Baladin, Roma, 10/02/13. Lightly hazed pale golden with a decent white head. Nose is pale malts, grass, citrus, orange pith, sugars. Taste comprises orange, lemon, citrus, sugars, grass, sweet caramel, toffee. Medium bodied with moderate carbonation, light bitter tones in a sweetish finish. Ok - drinkable stuff but was expecting a little more complexity and depth to the flavours for a 7.5% beer!

At a tasting, thanks Naama, small creamy head, deep very hazy orange colour, aroma of citrus and white fruits, with some mustard and just a hint of vinegar, flavour of bread and honeycomb with some fruitiy sourness. Unusual but quite interesting.

Bottle sample at a tasting at Dancing Camel. Thanks Naama. Pours murky amber with white ring. Smells nutty, earthy and grassy with some toast. Tastes nutty, a little sweet with faint fruitiness. Creamy texture, delicate fizz, peachy finish. Good.

bottle @ eataly. It pours amber with a good white head on top. A little spicy with a good bitterness. Good.

cereal, chocolate, toast, nuts, floral, herbs, butterscotch, licorice, smoke, vanilla, caramel. Birra dal gusto equilibrato. Secondo me non una classica IPA. Tutto sommato un buon gusto persistente.

Znakomite piwo. O wspaniałym słodowym smaku i mętno pomarańczowym kolorze. Piana wytrwała dość dłógo. Zapachy kwiatowo owocowe. Chmielone nuty także wyczuwalne. Finisz goryczkowo-słodki. Polecam

Al naso si esaltano l’agrumato dell’Amarillo e il floreale del Cascade, il rustico del lievito, insieme ad una sensazione speziata ricca e pungente Al palato si conferma come classica apa, pompelmo e amaro persistente risultano predominanti. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

It pours amber, a bit hazy with a small/medium foam head. A fantastic brew full of flavours. Something between French amber Ale style and IPA. It smells chesnut puree, acacia honey and flowers. It tastes caramel malt and floral hops with a nice bitterness in aftertaste. Great Italian brew guys!

Buona schiuma persistente, colore ambrato carico leggermente velata.
