Water, malt, hops and yeast. That’s it! Why? It took a simple beer to express a simple project. And it took an innovative beer to express an innovative project. This is how OPEN BALADIN was created: a beer with a “strong” personality and at the same time delicately captivating. And this is how this beer – the first “open source” beer in Italy – has slowly captured the hearts (and especially the throats…) of those who enjoy good, healthy and informed drinking. 27 EBC, 16.8°

Clear blond body with a white fizzy-creamy head. Aroma of flowers and some light malts. Quite well balanced. Moderately bitter, lightly sweet flavour - nice hoppy. Ok balanced.

25cl bottle @ RBBWG 2012 thanks to Diabel. Golden blond coloured with some very small yeast parts and a short white head. Heavy yeasty vanilla spicy (almonds?) hinted aroma. Full palate. Finish is full malty and yeasty herby hinted. Not bad, but would not indicate this as an IPA, limited bitter hints and more yeasty notes.

UPDATED: FEB 24, 2013 Re-rate 2/6/13: Bottle sample at a tasting at Dancing Camel. Thanks Naama Halevi. Light hoppy nose, floral and citric. Sweetish malty flavor with caramel, honey notes and a bit of bitter hops in the finish. 6/3/6/3/13=3.1

Bottle sample at a tasting at Dagan’s place. Thanks troubles. Slightly hazy golden. Grainy aroma with some fruitiness, cereals notes and light hoppy notes. Sweetish flavor with a bit of malt, fruits and a slightly drier finish (but the sweetness is always there). Medium-bodied. 5/3/6/3/12=2.9

14/I/2012 25cl relief bottle (no labels) @ RBBWG 2012 - BB: n/a (2012-36) Thanks to Diabel for bringing the bottle!

Clear blond beer, some sediment floating around, small aery white head, unstable, non adhesive. Aroma: yeast, cheese, mold, spices, marzipan, almonds, cinnamon. MF: good carbon, light to medium body. Taste: pretty sweet, marzipan again, toasted and sweet malts, little bitter. Aftertaste: spices, bit (fresh) cheesy (Pashka, if you know this), sweet.

25 cl. wine/champagne-style bottle sampled @ RBWG 2012 – thx to Diabel – hazy golden with a white head, smell is sweet with white chocolate, yeast & spices (?), taste is equally puzzling, sweet, white sugar, milk chocolate (not in a potentially awesome way), marzipan, floor & spices, creamy body, I am not getting this one

33cl bottle @ RBBWG 2012, Antwerpen courtesy of Diabel. IPA with the look of an abbey, tha’s my impressions.

Short-lived white head over pale orange-golden beer. Bit milky, lactic nose, milkchocolate. Weird. Finishing expressly almondy. Again milkchocolate, creamy, and a hint at sourness. More almonds or marzipan. Slick, and again: milky MF, strange. Bitterness seems to come as an afterthought. Unbalanced, weird, unsatisfying. I do not know what the brewery intended, but I doubt this is an IPA in anyones book.

25cl bottle from The Grove Huddersfield. Not expecting this to be any great shakes as they were selling it off cheap in the pub. No mark on the pub mind. Get rid if beers are filling up fridge space. So not expecting it to be full of hop life. It is indeed not great. Hops have died to leave a sickly toffee beer with some bitterness on finish. Nit great and i will re-rate if i see a fresher batch.

Se dovessi valutarla come una India Pale Ale sarebbe insufficiente, ma in sè a me non è così dispiaciuta.

Bottle @ YNWA, Kolding. The aroma is light fruity hoppy, bit malty. Hazy, golden coloured beer with a medium, white head. The taste is bitter, malty, light caramelic, some fruits. Quite carbonated. Quity a heavy one for the stomach.
