Water, malt, hops and yeast. That’s it! Why? It took a simple beer to express a simple project. And it took an innovative beer to express an innovative project. This is how OPEN BALADIN was created: a beer with a “strong” personality and at the same time delicately captivating. And this is how this beer – the first “open source” beer in Italy – has slowly captured the hearts (and especially the throats…) of those who enjoy good, healthy and informed drinking. 27 EBC, 16.8°

Bottiglia, aroma non molto coinvolgente, il gusto dei malti è piacevole ed equilibrato da un amaro, per me, un po’ blando.

Keg at Baladin Bologna. It pours a clean golden color with a medium tan head. Aroma is floral, fruity sweet, lightly yeasty. Taste is also moderately sweet floral and fruity with notes of lemon, melon and grass. Light biscuity malts. Medium bodied with good carbonation. Overall, ok

American hop aroma. Pleasant flavor with toasty malt and citrus hops. Dry finish. Nice.

Restrained aroma in a golden pour. Strangely Belgian flavour profile for an ’American’ ale - but very tasty regardless. It is hard to rate these Italian brews as they are somewhat unique.

Dorata carica, velata dai lieviti in sospensione, schiuma bianca di media persistenza. Aroma agrumato, zucchero caramellato, alcool. Al palato sempre agrumata e zuccherina, maltata, retrogusto amaricante erbaceo e leggerissimo passion fruit, alcool fin troppo presente. Corpo medio, mediamente carbonata.

Bottle. Unusually choclaty for an american pale ale. Not as refreshing as I like them to be. OK.

On tap @ Open Baladin, Rome.
Honeyish yellow body with a froathy white head. Aroma of honey and some herbs. Medium-full body with malty sweetness, not a well hidden alcohol - but well hidden hops. Except more.
