Bottle. Clear golden with big white head. Flavour is malt, hops, citrus, bitter, fruit, little pine and a little sweet.

Bottle at Beer Bistro. Comes on like an IPA, and then resolves into malt and a yeasty finish. More like a Belgian IPA. Orange flavours-Simcoe hops is a guess. Good drinkability, though not exceptional nor worth $35 plus tax and tip for 250 ml.

Awesome inscribed 25cl bottle from Le Langhe, York. Pours a blonde colour with a fair white head. A Belgian tripel aroma of candy sugar, caramel and alcohol with a fruity, berry character also. Quite an astringent and bitter flavour upfront of juniper berries, grass, alcohol and an earthy mushroom finish. Some biscuity malt also. Moderate carbonation, light CO2 prickle and a foamy mouth-feel. Definitely not what I was expecting from an IPA. I agree with Dan, this drinks more like a hoppy Belgian ale. I like it.

Bottle 25cl, a cloudy amber beer. Nose is spicy, aroma is astringent, near a triple beer, fruity and hopy, very yeasty and ester notes, unbalanced and not so drinkable, grapefruit notes, quite sweet. Is that an IPA ??

100ml, draught at Open Baladin. Nice white tophead, slowly fading over an amber coloured body. Malt-fruity nose, with hints of lactose. Fruity hops in flavour again with hints lactose and added by grainy malts. Distant bitter ending. Medium bodied. Pleasing, however, a rather unusual IPA (Roma, 31.03.2012).

Not quite the sum of all its parts. Has a thickness to it’s aroma and taste that shows off malty hops

Stasera assaggio la seconda delle tre Baladin che ho trovato in bottigliette da 25, altra bella (e buona) sorpresa dopo la Super della settimana scorsa. In italiano non riesco a descriverla dato che mi vengono fuori termini tipo "dorato profondo" o "note di pino", magari andrebbero pure bene ma sono abituato all’inglese quindi: deep golden color, medium off persistent white head, caramel aroma with citrus (grapefruit) and peach notes, citrus and pine mildly bitter flavor, dry finish with herbal notes aftertaste, nice. Anche in questo caso la dicitura IPA non deve fuorviare il giudizio, sono birre che vanno contestualizzate e non paragonate alle illustri e canoniche rappresentanti dei generi etichettati. Ecco cosa succede se scrivo in italiano...insomma, buona dai.

Bottle pours a cloudy coppery amber, with some brown scattered sediments. Light weak head that dissipates fast. Sweet floral aromas with caramel, banana and apricot notes. Very active carbonation. Medium bodied and a full palate with a crisp finish. Sweet malts complements the hoppy bitterness. Leaves a smooth espresso like aftertaste.

Bottle. Clear golden amber, little white head fades to nothing. Big sweet resinous nose, honey, hint of almond, hint of marmalade. Juicy sherbet front, hint of citrus, great prickly mouthfeel, slightly sweet resinous finish. Tastes more like a weird Belgian Double IPA than a normal IPA.Nice though.

Bo che dire... io non l’ho apprezzata particolarmente un po’ insipida, ne carne ne pesce...

Clear blond body with a white fizzy-creamy head. Aroma of flowers and some light malts. Quite well balanced. Moderately bitter, lightly sweet flavour - nice hoppy. Ok balanced.
