Un fortissimo sapore di te affumicato che arriva a sorso già inoltrato. Retrogusto estremamente deciso molto più della boccata iniziale!

Poured from a bottle purchased in Indiana for @$54 into a snifter reddish brown-no head. Aroma is caramelized dark fruits in booze. Slight smoke but quite subtle. Flavor is exquisite. Whiskey fruited love. Thinking the deepest richest caramelized brew then infused with tea. So get the tea in the finish and it works wonderfully! A rare beauty of a brew. Blessed to have consumed.

A Mes rate. Bottle thanks hugely to Nate as part of the Imperial Geezer Tasting.
Superb amber with a thin but lasting beige head. Rather viscous, looks like it means business and my god it does. As soon as I get anywhere near the glass I’m hit with a barrage of bacon, sausage and amazing, just amazing Austrian smoked cheese. Something is stirring in the depths of my soul telling me it’s breakfast time. Once I get this magic elixir in my mouth, all thoughts of breakfast are banished and replaced with WOO HOO GET ME DRUNK YOU NUTBOX! Bugger me, this is ludicrously good. Ang and I just looked at each other litterally speechless, without speech. Incredibly rich. Toffee, fruit, cheese, loads of bacon. Just comically good. Sweet as hell but the sugar is balanced so well it seems perfectly integrated. Juicy as hell, it’s almost apple concentrate. Faint earthy notes sit down waaaaay deep, glorious vanilla, some nuts, erm... how strong? It drinks like 8%! The barley notes are about the best I have had and there is something else. Wow, hang on, I can’t think. Hmmm... errrrrrrm... nope, my head has gone bye byes. Ahh, Nate called it, thanks mate. It’s like some caramel smoky glaze you find atop some cake of sheer joy. This is stupidly drinkable for the abv, I’m struggling to get my notes out in time, I just want to immerse myself in it. The mouthfeel is completely insane, the only thing I’ve had that feels this good is ice cider. Silly, just silly. Nate, you have scored some serious brownie points here.

courtesy of fiulijn; 2006 vintage - clear amber-brown colour with absolutely no foam; aroma of walnut, whisky and smoked sausage, a fair but well-integrated smokiness; very oily and full-bodied, notes of Madeira and honey, Portwine-like finish with more honey and smoke - a wonderful, complex beer!

Courtesy of Kraddel. 2006 Vintage. Respectable sample from a 500 ml. bottle. Pours a deep red copper amber with no head & no carbonation as expected. Taste is best possible oxidation notes, sherry walnuts, nicely warming, rich caramel, thick rich sweet malts, brown sugar, hazelnut, toffee, some port, not really picking up on Lapsang Souchong (maybe vanished with age?). Taste is quite sweet porn, sherry, hazelnut, walnut, vanilla, brown sugar, toffee, best possible oxidation overall, vanilla, toffee, maple syrup, faint liquorish, dark fruits, touch sweet oily nature that could be interpreted as Lapsang Souchong maybe but I am really trying here. Not really getting the tea unfortunately but otherwise great. Faintly oily, rich and thick but not heavy, thinned out by oxidation but doesn’t taste thin at all. Lovely, would have probably preferred this one fresh in order to get some of that tea.

Beautiful red and dark amber color, clear, shiny; flat. Delicate smoke aroma, it reminds me more a delicate smoked meat of the Schwarzwald than the Lapsang Suchong; it blends well with the malt, caramel and toffee aroma; due to the oxidisation, there is an impression of Madeira; also some chestnuts. It flows like a velvety ambrosia, sweet and delicate, yet powerful; rich sweetness, the malt melts into caramel; the smoke is very delicate, but clearly present; there are traces of chestnut honey and mature fruits; the 14% of alcohol is just a concept. Smooth. Sublime liquid for the gods.
