4.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20
06/04/2011 500ml bottle (2007). Meraviglioso colore ambrato cognac, intensissimo, limpidissimo, con vive note ramate, schiuma assente. Completamente piatta e ossidata. Aroma intenso e caldo di frutta, si percepisce nettamente l’alcol. In bocca fruttata, vinosa, dolcissima, eppure incredibilmente bilanciata. Corpo medio-pieno, consistenza liquorosa. Sembra uno Sciachetrà delle Cinque Terre. Complessa, esaltante, assolutamente unica nel suo genere.

Bottle. Pours a near clear deep copper with a hint of amber and a grayish head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has a lot of sweet caramel and cookie with some sweet fruits and a hint of toffee. Flavor has a good amount of sweet dark fruits with sugars, cookies and caramel. Really rich and sweet.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Sample @ HBF 2010. Originally rated on 10.4.2010. Okay but slightly unbalanced barley wine. Notes of madeira wine, alcohol burns through a bit too much.

UPDATED: DEC 10, 2012 Il migliore dei tre! Questa non è una birra, è un vino passito, un madeira, un esercizio di stile pazzesco! Avercene di birre così...

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle: Pours a dark muddy brown with little head. The nose is big and fruity with a complex blend of alcohol, wood and sherry with a cherry and resin note. The flavor is cloying but it has a big alcohol and maltiness to back it up. Nice and full bodied for sure, maybe a bit too much, but it’s fun and sappy with a huge umami mouthfeel. Thanks Sam.

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Uno dei migliori Barleywine mai bevuti, delicatissimo. Fin dall’aroma, spicca il potente fruttato.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle. Pours an amber body with no head. Very sweet up front, honey and pine, sweet over ripe apples and cherry hints. Raw sugar, boozy maple and caramel with a lighter vanilla wood tones. Light oxidation adds a husky bitter apple sweetness. A light waxy body with a sharp sugary sweetness. Pretty big warmth but the oxidation slows this down some. Decent.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle at the Eataly store, Bologna, Italia, 25.02.11 Deep golden colour with little head, very good clarity. The nose is quite aged, its dusty furniture, sherry and a little wood. Taste is sherry, its very heavy and sweet. This is a big beer, very hefty difficult to rate as very busy around me and crammed in at the bar. A7 A5 T7 P4 Ov14 3.7
