(500ml bottle 2006 vintage thanks to bu11zeye) still orange pour with nice coating of the glass. Nose of smoke, tobacco, honey. Taste of honey, sherry, toffee, smoke, with a medium-light body and a maple syrup finish. This is the best of the Xyauyu beers which are ALL absolutely fantastic.

Bottle thanks to ericandersnavy for saving this for me. Pours a murky brown. Aroma has loads of dark fruit, honey, light smoke and malty. Flavor is smoky, malty, honey and alcohol spice. Mouth feel is heavy with low to no carbonation. Overall, damned good shit!

Bottle thanks to bu11zeye. Nose is mescal, vanilla, smoked fat, and apple skin. Taste reminds me of doritos, meat, and syrup. Sticky smooth mouthfeel with a very long finish. Excellent.

2006 bottle thanks to bu11zeye. Probably the best smokey beer I have ever had. Pours a lot lighter color than the other three. Aroma is smokey, meat, alcohol, caramel, maple, and bbq. Taste is maple glazed bbq, awesomeness and syrupy. I hate smoke beers normally, but this is excellent!

In short: A liquorish extra-smoked sweet fruity beer of some kind. A unique experience.
How: From the bottle at Extreme Beer Fest 2010. Multiple samples
The look: Part cloudy dark golden body topped by an off-white ring of foam
In long: Where do we start with a beer like this, If a beer it is?!? Very strong smoky nose with notes of caramel and bacon. Taste is very sweet with lots of caramel, a ton of smoke, some fruity notes, more smoke, vinous notes, bacon, tree leafs, smoked wood bark, smoke refried beans, more caramel, more smoke. Very low carbonation, liquorish texture. I went back a few times trying to figure out what the hell this beer was. Every time I’d come up with a few more flavour elements. I still don’t know if I could enjoy a full bottle of this thing but I’d sure like to try. What the hell was this… thing? I really enjoyed the experience but I’m not sure why. Please don’t ask me what the score is, I’m still trying to figure out what the game is.

2006 Bottle - Thanks inflatablehair!!! - Pours still and clear orange with no head, nicely viscous...aroma is smokey, woody, brown sugar and caramel...flavour is like velvet wrapped in silk, honey, orange blossoms, creme, tea and smoke...finish is smooth and rich, the smoke is definite departure from the other Xyauyus, but so unique in taste...

Big Thanks to GodisThunder for the share A: Pours and orangish amber hue with just a few bubbles. Looks rather still in the glass.... just like it should. S: Bold dark fruit aromas with a blend of sweet candy malts. Subtle smoke can be picked up along with a touch of wood. T: Dark fruit with a nice blast of woody meaty smoke. Nice dose of caramel and toffee to sweet up the smoke. Very well crafted I have a man crush on anything Xyauyu. M: Full in body, rich, sweet, smokey, and still. D: Sippability is rather high on this one.

I think daknole nailed this beer. Pours an orange toned body with an off whtie head. Vinous fruit tones of honey, plum, dark raisins. Viscous and warming with a smokey tea note that reminds me of a smoked iced cider, yeah riddle me that! Wow what an awesome experience, this was one of the most unique and enjoyable beers of EBF weekend, for once i have something to say about Italian beer other then it being over prices. Awesome!

Bottle - thanks to Inflateablehair. Clear copper pour with no head, just a couple bubbles clinging to the edge of the liquid. Nose is vinous, sherry, and smoke. After an initial hot feeling, combined with a really full and creamy mouthful, the blend of smoke and honey is just sublime. Nice wildflower honey taste. Richly sweet, yet smokey. Like sweet n’ smokey hot wings? Hell yes. Thanks Sam - this was incredibly fun to try.
