1.6 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 5/20
Aruba beer. Do a little dance. Make a little love. Get down tonight. The beer comes in this cute little bottle that looks like it should be served on airplanes by those arrogant pricks that fake smile at you and ask if you would like a snack, knowing full well that six peanuts and a shitty processed sugar cookie is only herding you toward numb obedience and an inevitable slow and miserable death. Like I said, small bottle.
Sweet smelling. Adjuncts, corn, cigarettes on the beach, middle age chics acting like they don’t regret that tattoo they got back when they used to maybe be sexy, but now their gunts cover up the ridiculous rhinestones on their bikini bottoms that stopped fitting after they had their third ill-advised child with some GED toting douche bag who rides a motorcycle to Buffalo Wild Wings so he can try and beat his low life middle age peers in bar trivia, where questions like "Chief Suggam Bagadix surrendered his manhood in which battle?" get the night shift crowd all hot and bothered.
I would like to visit Aruba someday.

Pours a three finger white head that fades quickly to a ring leaving traces of lace. Clear pale yellow color. Light carbonation and light bodied. Grassy nose. Flavor is muted grassy and lacking. Clean but wicked dry finish. Gift from a traveler 220ml bottle from Aruba.

Poured from a cute 8 oz can. Fluffy white head of fine bubbles. Light cereal and rice aroma with a bit of spicy hops. Color is a light gold. Slightly fizzy in the mouth. Clean and very refreshing with some more cereal grains, rice and a decent bitterness from the hops. Light flavor with nothing really to take offense to with this one. A decent light lager that is typical for the style except for maybe a little extra hops presence.

It’s everything I hate about BAD BEER. Thin golden pour with fizzy white head. Aroma of Skunk and corn. Weak body. Little taste.

Review from notes sampled the week of 8/6/2008
Honeymoon in Aruba and lets just say craft beer hasn’t come into vogue on this scorching desert of an island. Balashi is the Aruba beer and you can find it everywhere. I got the chance to try this on tap, in green 12oz bottles and in brown 7oz bottles, it makes no difference the beer is a pretty crappy macro lager. Smells and tastes like you’d expect light with hints of corn, honey, grains, and some skunk. I often found a mineral taste, but not always. When in Aruba this is certainly your freshest choice, but certainly nothing to get excited about.

Nice crisp clear beer. The bottle I tried was skunked though. Low hop. Some malt. It would have been good if it wasn't skunked. Good summer beer.

Can from Daniel. I forgot how he got this beer, but I would certainly drink more of it. From the can it tastes like a pale lager, smells like one, and yeah. Thats about it. Nothing really to say other than its better than budwesier, tastes like a non skunked heineken, and from a country that is not very large and assumingly does not have a ton of brewers, it isnt bad at all. I would drink this if I was there, probably better than the water

Despite storing this green-bottled delight away from any relevant light sources, a skunk-spray of nastiness emerged with the hiss of the bottle-crack. So... I let it sit for a while. A pale golden body exhibited mild effervescence while a bright white head fell with moderate quickness. At this point, I will just call that skunked aroma ~continental hoppiness,~ with a touch of bready yeasts beneath. Metallics and low fruit cancel each other out, but a cardboard essence truly detracts. Fluffy mouthfeel finishes dry, so I cannot say anything bad about the palate. Mild flavor with yellow apple and mild bitters. If I hold my nose this is an enjoyable lager. (Since my traditional html references no longer work, I will simply mention that this bottle came from a colleague of mine who vacationed in Aruba last year.) And I am truly disappointed that I cannot use common punctuation and quotations without having them dismembered into ampersands and gibberish.

UPDATED: JUN 13, 2011 Grainy aroma. Light golden color with a small white head. Moderate grain and yeast flavor with a very light bitter middle that fades quickly.
