2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Yellow beer with a fizzy white head. Grainy nose with a metallic note. I drank a ton of this in Panama, and it is a great beer for the heat and weather. Light beer with a thin malty sweetness. Clean and refreshing. A fine macro lager.

2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
A gift from one of my students. New country rating! Pale straw colour, thin head. Light aroma of very light graininess. Firm bitterness and a touch of green apple. It’s a very simple, pale lager. Pretty inoffensive.

Perhaps the better tasting of the more commercial beers in Panama, slight toast perceptible but nothing that exalts this beer.

1.7 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 6/20
Pours pale straw with a short white head diminishing gradually to a thin skim, no lacing. (3/5) Nose is grainy biscuity malt, corn, faint herbal and grassy hops. (3/10) Taste is moderate sweet, mild bitter. (3/10) Light bodied, prickly to medium carbonation. (2/5)
Not a good beer, at all - standard crap adjunct lager. Though it reminds me of drinking Cristal in Cuba, so there’s that... (6/20)

2 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 7/20
Can (in Panama City airport).
Head is initially small, frothy, white, mostly diminishing.
Body is medium yellow.
Aroma is lightly malty (cereal, grain, husks), trace hops (herbs), with a note of DMS.
Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly bitter.
Finish is lightly sweet, lightly to moderately bitter, slightly unclean, slightly husky.
Medium body, watery texture, fizzy/lively carbonation.
Between this, Atlas, and Panama Lager, this is the closest to being drinkable, but it’s still a long long way from enjoyable.

I lived in Panama off and on for ~8 years and tried all of the local beers. This is pretty much similar to Atlas. Not a very good flavor and a slightly bitter and yeasty aftertaste. It isn’t the worst beer I’ve ever tasted but not really refreshing or enjoyable. Try it just so you can see the similarities amongst the local beers and compare them with their American equivalents.
