750 ml clear screwcap bottle, vintage 2010, from Vinmonopolet, bestillingsutvalget. ABV is 8.5%. This is a still cider from the first Norwegian cidery using primarily homegrown French and English cider apple varieties, not only sweet eating apples. Golden colour, no carbonation. Moderate but nice aroma of cider apples. Dry and nutty flavour of oxidised and bitter cider apples. Interesting, and better with food than on its own.

Bottle. Clear, still orange body. Aroma is fusel alcohol, medicinal etanol-like tones, band aids and very little else. Awful, and hard to ignore. Oh well, I bravely enter forward and take a sip. In the mouth, more horrors await: massive fusel alcohol, tart wooden tones and hints of apple. Harsh, astringent, medicinal and...bad, bad, bad. Surely this must be a bad bottle? I certainly hope so, for Balholm’s sake. Might re-rate on occasion, but right now it’s not very tempting.

Bottle 750ml. clear glass @ [ Fastelavn Smagning - Carnival Tasting - Ulfborg ].

Clear medium yellow colour with a fizzy, virtually none lacing, fully diminishing head. Aroma is moderate apple, dry apple, light alcohol - almost like cider with a squezz vodka. Flavour is moderate to light light heavy sweet and light light acidic with a long duration, apple, dry dry, white wine alike ! Body is light to medium, texture is watery, carbonation is flat. Bottle, 8.5%. Mild apple aroma. Dry apple flavour with a rough alcohol note. Clear golden colour. Apple juice with vodka can probably be had cheaper, even in Norway.

75 cL clear bottle. Pours clear and golden yellow with a small white head. Aroma is dry, acidic and light chemical. Light citric and mild fruity apples. Bitter and mild citric into the finish.

Bottle 75 cl. Courtesy of yngwie. Pours a clear golden with a small white head. Apple aroma with quite some booze. Medium body, very discreet apple accents but a heavy booze finish. Appears like a weak apple juice fortified with vodka. 180212

Bottle. It’s golden in color, a bit pale maybe, no carbonation. It’s sort of vinous on the nose, white wine-ish, with less apple aroma than I would like it to have. Lightly vinous too. Sort of vinous in the flavor too, with apples dominating. Full-bodied and with a touch of alcohol warmth. A bit one dimentional, but with a pleasant vinous touch. Might be drinking more of this. 120218

Bottle @ Fastelavnssmagning 2012, Ulfborg. 2010. Pours clear golden with bubbles on top. Dry and alcoholic flavor. Rough. Sweet. Red apples. Alcoholic and cloying.

Bottled. A golden cider with a thin off-white head. The aroma has notes of apples and alcohol. The flavor is sweet with notes of alchol and rotten apples, leading to a tart finish.

Bottle. Clear golden with tiny to no head. Aroma is apples and fruit. Flavour is apples, alcohol, medium sweet and a little watery.

Clear golden without head. Aroma is sweet and apples. Flavor is medium sweet. Dry finish with an alcoholic feel. 180212
