Oakes (7032), Miami Beach, Florida, USA Apr 17, 2005 Golden colour. Slight spicy hop presence, decent balance, and very light mossy, earthy nuances towards the finish. Bov (4744), Bienne, Switzerland Oct 12, 2002 clear yellow-orange colour, no head, candy sugar and light perfumy aroma, too much carbonation, bitter floral finish - not that bad for something "largest-selling" muzzlehatch (4429), Burlington, USA Jan 13, 2004 Corked, caged 750 ml bottle, aged for 9 years in Granma's root cellar --- nahh, just kiddin'. 12 0-oz bottle -- has the design on this changed in 20 years? Clear light yellow, lots of bubbling, seems like soda-pop carbonation. Tiny head, diminishes instantly. Minimal sweet corn nose followed by minimal sweet corn flavor -- tiny hint of hoppiness at the end. Little brackish metal/saltiness in the mouthfeel. Not as terrible as I expected, but worse than I remembered from years ago. Cornfield (4412), Oak Forest, Illinois, USA Dec 12, 2005 "America’s largest selling ale." !?!?! That’s what it says on the label, anyway. Understandable in a country (my country!) that thrives on BMC pale lagers. Anywho - it’s a nice golden color. The aroma is watery, bready with a suggestion of hops. Thin in the mouth, the flavor is almost tasteable, a mild sweet malt mixed with vast amounts of water. The finish, almost unnoticed, is a final dab of sweet malt.

DiCarlo’s Armanetti, Willowbrook, IL
JPDIPSO (4345), Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, USA Feb 10, 2006 Really only a shell of its former self. But, when I mean former, I remember it had some real ale qualities 25 years ago, but now I have to dance with who brung ya. Light golden color with a smallish off-white head. Aromas of white soda, grain, quinine and a hint of spicy hops. Light sweet malt mix with a touch of grain and herbal hops. Some raw flavors seem to suggest real hops, but still a touch thin and tinny.
