Bottled(500ml). -Historic Royal Palaces Kings Table Collection, hazy golden coloured, little head, tart malty flavor, slight hop aroma with unpleasant notes of sulphur, bitter finish and sharp mouthfeel, one of the worst english brews that I ever had

King’s Table Collection "Real Ale." Bottle. Nice deep color with a pleasant hoppiness. Quite the quaffable sessioner. Not too much going on, but good nonetheless. Hoppy without being overtly bitter. Nice.

[Cask at Volunteers Arms, GBBF 2005] The hand writen pump clip read: "Ballard Golden Bine II" - I wonder if that is because it was a 3.8% ABV, which is lighter than the 4.2%, that it is listed under here. Anyways the brewery homepage sets it at 3.8% - so it must be the same beer. A hazy orange beer with a thin white head. The aroma is of minerals - reminds me of the Lithuanian beers Josh and Per brought to RBESG in 2004, but the aroma also contains notes of sulphur - a little like a mild. The flavor is malty with the same notes of minerals, with a dry end and a thin body.

(Bottle Conditioned as King’s Table Collection) Beautiful colour but not much head. Hoppy aroma, a bit watery in the mouth, slight sourness, but little maltiness. Pleasantly bitter finish. Not bad beer, but good enough to represent Britain’s royal palaces?

Bottled (Historic Royal Palaces Kings Table Collection): Gold with a short lasted white head. Slightly metallic citrus floral hop aroma. Sweet start with a boring bitter finish. Thin feel. Boring bitter.

UPDATED: SEP 6, 2005 Cask conditioned @ Cricketers Inn, Easton. Apr 04. Lightly aromatic hops with citrus fruit. Very refreshing dry body with enough bitterness. Very nice but forgetable beer. 7 4 7 4 9

Cask conditioned @ Guide Dog, Soton. Aug 05. Now being brewed at 3.8%. The recipe change seems to have helped all the flavours come together a bit more. 7 3 7 3 14
