Carlus12 (361), London, Greater London, England Mar 14, 2008 Bottle. Mahogany colour, barely there head. Malty aroma with come caramel and slight alcohol, sour fruits. Taste is toffee, liquorice, faint hoppyness and syrupy. There was something not quite right with this one, as I was expecting a lot more.

Deep orange to brown. Smells like mulled cider - spicy. Quite carbonated. Sharp bretty taste, tangy hops, fruity and a bit yeasty. Feels like it could improve with a year of ageing. Until then it’s a bit cloying. A bit raw and sweet. Bucket-loads of potential, though, with nice tangy sourness not seen since my last Gales POA. Ethereal (724), London, Greater London, England Jul 7, 2008 Bottle at home. Deep reddish amber - still, zero head. Caramel and toffe on the nose, but with a slight blue cheese note as well. Cloying mouthfeel that’s slick rather than smooth. Sweet, port-esque flavour but sorely lacking complexity. Very disappointing. Fin (2026), Merton, Oxfordshire, England Jun 17, 2008 Bottle, picked up at Westholme Londis, Goring-on-Thames, consumed 16-06-08 Poured reddy brown cloudy with no head whatsoever. Cloyingly sweet, with toffee, sweet fruits and some alcohol. Some port like flavours but this really isn’t for me at all and I was quite disappointed if truth be known. cgarvieuk (2160), Edinburgh, Scotland Jun 2, 2008 Bottle at home ... Deep red ... sweet malts ... odd ... theres flavour i like in here but its just not working on all levels ... its some sweet toffee malts some pears ... little liqurice ... Its got a real nice flavour in the background, but the forground just isnt rigth ruining what could be a lovely beer. thewolf (3392), Kolding, Denmark May 12, 2008 Bottle, bought @ Utobeer Market Stand, London.
Pours red amber with nearly no head. No fizz either. Aroma has caramel and sourish fruits. Nearly no carbonation, rather oily mouthfeel. Flavour is heavily toffee-based, lots of liqourice, port and sugary sweetness. Very weird - more like a mediocre port than a beer.
