3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 tom10101 (1052) - Quebec, CANADA - MAY 7, 2013
Bottle (12 oz). Unclear golden/amber with a medium off-white head and heavy lacing. Aroma is mainly of resinous hops and pine along with slight citrus and an underlying malt presence... slight spiciness too. Taste is slightly sweet with resinous/pine, caramel, slight citrus and moderate bitterness. Slight mineral notes too. Alcohol is well hidden. Medium body. Dry. Good balance. Nice drinkability. Refreshing. I like this IPA.
3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 Bif (1022) - St. Louis, Missouri, USA - MAY 4, 2013
Pours a hazy bronze color with a fair head that fades to some lacing. Aroma of pine, some fruit and bit of malt sweetness in the background. Taste of pine and citrus, some malt sweetness and bit of fruit. Nice bitterness and the finish is quite dry. medium body, crisp, clean and refreshing. Well balanced. Good beer for the style. Enjoyable beer that goes down quite easy.
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Dredd (638) - Bentleigh, AUSTRALIA - MAY 4, 2013
Pour is a nice amber with white head. Strong resinous pine aroma with some stonefruit sweetness aromas. Flavour is upfront biscuity malts that get rapidly overtaken by the wave of hop bitterness. Very resinous and mouth coating to the point where a few mouthfuls and all you taste is hops. Not that there is anything wrong with it!
4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 adamah (58) - - MAY 1, 2013
A great easy drinking IPA. Might be too bitter for someone who doesn’t enjoy the style but I found the hoppiness to be mild. It had some great pine and citrus aromas. Slightly sweet flavor up front that gives way to the awesome bitterness.
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 WortMan (15) - - APR 30, 2013
Pours with a nice copper color, smooth IPA taste with all the hoppy greatness. Nice fruity aroma, just an excellent beer.
3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 Minderbinder (821) - Québec, Quebec, CANADA - APR 30, 2013
Bottle 355ml.
Pours deep golden with medium beige head, diminishing. Aroma is of pine, resin, citrus, fruits, malt, alcohol. Taste is the same, but the alcohol is well hidden, and there is caramel too. Palate: medium body. Overall: Good, fuity. A tad on the malt side, but not too much. Good resin. Balance not too shabby. Drinkable.
3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 dresden (519) - Saskatchewan, CANADA - APR 22, 2013
Tap at petco. Nice clear dark golden with a frothy head. Aroma is piney and citrusy. Nice heavy hit of pine and grass with some citrus. Nice take on this style of IPA. Great to see they can pull this off and sculpin... This deserves more love.
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 tmoreau (1625) - Lombard, Illinois, USA - APR 21, 2013
Sampled at a recent Wirtz Beverage/Illinois seminar, and poured to stemware from 12 oz. bottles showing a clear and bright amber hue, with cream colored head froth and decent cling to the lacing. The aroma was stone fruit, citrus, resin, and more earthiness than the Sculpin. A fuller body, and pronounced hop bitterness, with a dry finish, but not as smooth, imo. A different animal, but a decent IPA nonetheless.
3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 brontebeach (46) - Surrey, ENGLAND - APR 17, 2013
An appearance worthy of a gold medal. A clear, dark golden, rich whisky colour with little or no head. Aroma not that incisive but soft and balanced in the mouth, with a hint of carbonation. Perhaps a touch too much alcohol in the residual after taste but still, overall a good worthy beer.
3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 LesArgen (131) - AUSTRALIA - APR 17, 2013
A lovely balanced nose throws up caramel, tangerine, marshmallow, and more than a whiff of Swedish sauna. In the mouth, the hops are big but not overpowering, with grapefruit, a pleasant soft orange and a little caramel. A lovely IPA.
