If you have fallen for the IPA style like we have, Big Eye will be a welcome addition to your repertoire. You’ll revel in Big Eye’s bitter, hoppy flavor thanks to the American Columbus and Centennial hops that are used to flavor and dry hop our flagship IPA. We thank our hops every day that the English loved their bitters—or else the IPA style may not have been born to help the beer survive the journey from Cape Hope to India back in the 18th century.

Straight from the can (forgive me). Aroma, well, you don’t get much from the can. I can live with this, since I’m guessing it’s citrus and hops. Flavor, well I can taste the beer-- dank hops, quite heavy in the mouth, with an amazingly well balanced malt character (biscuity). Bittering and long lasting at the end. Fairly high carbonation as well. This is a really well balanced IPA that has the mouthfeel and ABV of a DIPA-- but is very drinkable.

A poor man’s sculpin. Good flavor, hops and citrus are well balanced, but pine is a bit too intense for my liking. Medium carbonation. The Pine really sticks around and lingers somewhere between bitter and sour.

Pours clear copper with a medium beige head, excellent retention. Aromas of pine, grapefruit, caramel, biscuit, tropical fruit, grass. Medium body, creamy, good carbonation, somewhat dry. Lightly sweet, medium bitter fades into a lingering light bitter finish with some light herbal notes. Very pleasing IPA.

Orange colour, white head. Aroma of earthy hops, citrus, pine, eucaliptus. Taste is medium bitter, tang citrusy flavour. Medium body, slick texture, average carbonation. Different but very tasty and easy to drink.

Thanks to a coworker with good taste for bringing this in. Nice, subtle sweetness. Almost like a Double. Good job, Keegan.

This is a very dense IPA, malts are packed in with soft fruit and molasses with very resiny hops, earthy, bitter. A hint of dank. Heavier in the mouth than you might want.

Bottle pour. Hazy golden-amber color with thin head. Weak floral and citrus nose. Taste of orange peel, apricots, pine needles, and light notes of sweet malt. Decent weight for an IPA. Builds into a nicely balanced hoppy aftertaste which, combined with the weight, makes this pleasantly sippable. If I had to describe it in a single word I’d go with "balanced"; There’s no glaring flaws or unbalanced flavors here, but I’d almost call it TOO plain and inoffensive. Can’t complain too loud at the price I got it at though, since unlike Sculpin this won’t cost you an arm and a leg. Would probably buy again if the store didn’t have anything hoppier.
