COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
If you have fallen for the IPA style like we have, Big Eye will be a welcome addition to your repertoire. You’ll revel in Big Eye’s bitter, hoppy flavor thanks to the American Columbus and Centennial hops that are used to flavor and dry hop our flagship IPA. We thank our hops every day that the English loved their bitters—or else the IPA style may not have been born to help the beer survive the journey from Cape Hope to India back in the 18th century.

Astoundingly bitter, in a good way. Adequate aroma hints of so much more, ginger? pineapple? Can’t really grasp it. Hit me harder next time, I can handle it. Could also use more malt to back up those alphas. Bitter one-dimensional finish. I wanted to like it more, still, not bad.

65cl, at 7%Vol, American brew, thx to tderoeck!, complex bitter brew, fruity/bitter and slightly malty/sweet, balanced, clear, good head, good brew

(Bottle) Clear amber with no head. Pleasant pine and citrus aroma. Medium body with light carbonation. Nicely balanced flavours at the start with gentle caramel and citrus, then the hops start to steadily build more aggressive tastes for a good bitter finish. A nice IPA with good hoppy bitterness, but not over the top.

Almost the same as the sculpin IPA. However, this one has a less hoppy predominance in both smell and taste. Is a good IPA. Color is light amber. Aroma is citrus and hoppy. Taste is citrus with a nice bitterness. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Amber and clear. Great color. Nose of bitter and grassy notes, American hops! Bitter ending cut compared to Sculpin otherwise very close to it. Lovely beer! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle. It pours golden with a nice white head. Nose is citrusy, floral and malts. Grapefruit is the overall flavor. I like this IPA.

Bottle. My second offering from Ballast Point (first was Sculpin). Minimal head, piney scent, nice hop taste, slight butter finish. Overall good IPA. Cheers! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours a coppery orange with a thin white head. Aroma is pine, citrus fruits, passionfruit, sweet malt. Taste is tangy, a bit sweet, piney hops. Flavor is sweet up front, bitter on the finish.. nice effect. Medium body + carbonation. Well balanced

This tasted similar to the Sculpin offering, with a bit more bitter and dryness. I enjoyed it pretty much equally, but would say Sculpin gets a slight edge. Still lots of fruitiness present with mango, lemon, possibly some pineapple in there as well. Nice hop taste is present with bitterness, which I enjoy. I’m hoping to grab some more Ballast Point offerings soon!

Golden body topped by beige head. Good lacing. Floral, pine & citrus aromas. Grapefruit flavors, malt backbone, lemon peel & piney bitterness. Balanced IPA that is not as memorable as Sculpin from Ballast Point.

Pours a hazy orange with a thin white head, leaves some lacing on the glass. Aroma is muted some dank hops a little vegetal. Taste is bitter with some resiny citrusy hop flavor. Some toasty malt flavors in the background. Mouth feel is medium body with medium carbonation, hops coat your tongue a little. Overall its a nice IPA but could use more hop flavor and aroma. Maybe a fresher bottle.
