COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
If you have fallen for the IPA style like we have, Big Eye will be a welcome addition to your repertoire. You’ll revel in Big Eye’s bitter, hoppy flavor thanks to the American Columbus and Centennial hops that are used to flavor and dry hop our flagship IPA. We thank our hops every day that the English loved their bitters—or else the IPA style may not have been born to help the beer survive the journey from Cape Hope to India back in the 18th century.

12oz bottle into snifter glass. Clear orangy-amber color with off-white head. Aroma of strong citrus and floral hops with caramel malt backbone. Taste is bitter upfront ending with malt sweetness and some fruitiness. Light body, medium carbonation, bitter, dry and clean. Quite tasty and refreshing.

Bottle - pours deep hazy orange with a big white head. Sweet malt, orange, stone fruit, berries and leather, lots going on with the aroma, changes down the glass as it warms a bit. Bitter upfront then the hit of orange and malt and a bitterness at the side of the tongue . Mouthfeel is creamy.

12 oz single bottle from Roths Sunnyslope Market in S.Salem. $2.00 Clear burnished orange colour with a nice half inch thick creamy off white head. Nice spicy, fruity hop aromas.Slighly toffee like malts. Taste is better than the aroma, thick caramel/toffee malt flavours vie with nice spicy/piney hops..nice. Nice mouth feel also its quite heavy for style but its very inviting on the tongue and the long lasting hop after taste is welcome. Very nice IPA. This might sound crazy, but I am beginning to see a slight split in IPAs from S.Cali and those from N.Cali,Oregon and WA.

12 oz bottle, bottled June 5th 2014, poured into a pint glass. Appearance-Pours a clear golden orange with a pinky of off white head that leaves moderate lacing. Looks nice. Aroma-This beer is fruit forward. Typical tropical fruit IPA flavors are there. Pineapple, mango, and oranges. There is resin and slight alcohol as well. Taste-Up front I am hit with an instant blast of pine resin. There are juicy citric flavors, most notably grapefruit, with a bit of caramel sweetness to round it out. Palate-It is somewhat juicy to start and finishes very dry. Overall-This is a good IPA. The alcohol is a bit too high to make it a session beer, but I could go for a few anytime.

It pours a brown orange, decent that lasts with some lacing. It has the sweet malt smell of a strong ale. The taste is that initial malt sweetness but a long hops finish.

Pours a clear, lighter red with a medium, lingering white head. Aroma is a good combination of malts and citrus. It contains pine, caramel, grapefruit, apricot, and mango. The taste has hints of sweetness and is quite bitter. There is lots of pine, grapefruit, and floral hops. Fruity impressions found in the nose are still found, including the apricot and mango. Minor caramel and lemon are here as well. Medium in body, a slick yet slightly sticky texture, with some lively carbonation. This one is rather refreshing to drink. Overall, I find this to be a first class IPA.

355ml bottle [7.0% abv]. Clear, orangey, deep golden colour with average, frothy to creamy, fairly lasting, moderately lacing, off-white head. Cleaned, piney, hoppy aroma, hints of orange zest, a sweaty, purulence-like touch of resin. Taste is dry, bitter hoppy, slightly astringent, piney, dry caramel malty basis; background-ish cheesy, sweaty, purulence-like resin touch. Crisp bitter hoppy, cleaned, engineered and sophisticated to the extreme, absolutely pushed to the limits of this California style IPA ideal and definitely one of the best examples thereof known to me. I can see the demand behind this ideal, but would personally still prefer the direction driven by, e.g., The Kernel, exploring hop characteristics in a more dirty, contingent, less controlled way, thereby exposing explicit fruity hop notes in well-nigh unrivalled quality.

Tap@blackdoor. copper. Caramels, citrus, some softer sweet fruityness. Bitter, med bodied with a bit of a resinous, pine finish. Feels agressive, hoppy strong. Ok, good us ipa.
