COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
If you have fallen for the IPA style like we have, Big Eye will be a welcome addition to your repertoire. You’ll revel in Big Eye’s bitter, hoppy flavor thanks to the American Columbus and Centennial hops that are used to flavor and dry hop our flagship IPA. We thank our hops every day that the English loved their bitters—or else the IPA style may not have been born to help the beer survive the journey from Cape Hope to India back in the 18th century.

Bottle. Darker amber color typical of IPA’s - though slightly cloudy. Fairly hoppy aroma. Quite hoppy - hops are well balanced with malt.

Bottle. This beer pours a fairly clear light reddish-orange color with a light white head. Aroma is leafy and sweet hops. Sticky citrus hops. Flavor is dry, hoppy, sticky, and fairly bitter. Finishes bitter and lingers.

Draft. Pours clear medium brown. Tastes bitter, like strong grapefruit, floral hops, pine, malt. Smells like pine hops. Medium body and carbonation.

Tap. Pours deep amber with creamy white head. Aroma is caramel and cereal malts, floral hops, figs, dates, and light toast. Flavor is a balance of sweet and bready malts with good supporting earthy hops and some dark fruit esters; dry finish. Medium body and low carbonation.

Clear copper color. Aroma: Grass, citrus, pomegranate, banana and toast. Taste: Caramel, grapefruit, pomegranate and citrus. Dry finish. Very bitter, but overall this beer doesn’t match my expectations of an IPA. Easily drinkable, but for some reason it doesn’t impress.

Dark opaque amber with thin lacy head. Back of palate bitterness that stays through finish.

Pours dark amber with chill haze and a one finger creamy white foamy head. Nose is very citrusy with lemon and orange, slight estery banana which is interesting and some roasted malt sweetness. Flavour is clean, with a decent amount of bitterness throughout and a sweet, malty, slightly banana estery finish. A slight amount of toast and citrus on the finish adds complexity. I’m kind of uncertain about all those esters in there. I fell like perhaps they might be a result of poor storage. Regardless, this is a decent beer, but nothing outstanding. However I’ll definitely be getting a bottle from a more reliable retailer in the future.

August 2010. Bottle. Amber color with a white head. One of the big West Coast style IPA’s out there and does not disappoint in any way. Great stuff!

Nice golden orange color with a decent head. Nice and clear when I put it up to the light ...no haze. Hoppy floral notes to my nose with hints of evergreen and fresh flowers. Taste is wonder with lots of hops and a slight hint of malt. Crisp and clean with a nice hops after taste that last for a few minutes.

Hazy copper-amber with a quickly lost whitish head. Aroma of oranges and caramel. The taste is excellent. It’s got a nice bitter hop presence and a solid malt backbone. Medium bodied with average carbonation. Very pleasant drinking. Nice.

I had this at Global Brew. It is nice and hoppy, flavor is like the average IPA. I could drink this again. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
