If you have fallen for the IPA style like we have, Big Eye will be a welcome addition to your repertoire. You’ll revel in Big Eye’s bitter, hoppy flavor thanks to the American Columbus and Centennial hops that are used to flavor and dry hop our flagship IPA. We thank our hops every day that the English loved their bitters—or else the IPA style may not have been born to help the beer survive the journey from Cape Hope to India back in the 18th century.

A: Deep orange color. Pure white head with pretty decent retention. S: A little light but notes of citrus. Lemon, orange.... T: Very citrusy and fruity. Hops are a little aggressive but otherwise complimentary. P: Very very smooth on the palate. Carbonation is creamy rather than bubbly. Overall this is a great IPA. The smooth mouthfeel really brings together some great fruit, floral, and bitter tastes.

Hazy orange color with a nice fine white head. Some floatees in there. Aroma is lots of grapefruits and pine needles, resinous, but the taste kicks off with lots of toasty malts, pine needles, mild earthiness, more warming malts in the back, sorta English indeed. Oily mouthfeel, quite nice and heavy, not so clean, not to be expected from a West Coast Brewery! Still the pines are very strong here.

Sweet grapefruit aroma. Hazy burnt orange body with a solid one fingered head. Mild bitterness. Sweet malt and citrus taste. Bold bodied yet has clean refreshing finish. Closer to a English Style IPA with a touch of West Coast in the background. I’ll be looking for more of this one in the future.

355ml bottle into glass. Great inviting smoky hoppy nose. Hazy bronze beer with two finger white head. Light carbonation. Slight oily texture, a little zingy on the tongue. Finish starts with pine which lingers but a fruit salad note slowly shines through. Another fantastic IPA that you want to drink all afternoon then you realise it’s 7%! Brilliant, moreish.

355ml bottle. Pours a clear ruby, with a medium off-white head, which lasts reasonably well and leaves good lacing. Floral, grapefruit and resin hops mix with biscuit and nutty malt to create the aroma. Floral and grapefruit hops up front give way to satisfying biscuit malt in the mid-palate. Resin and spice hops give a nice kick to the finish. A nice IPA.

Can from Tokyu Foodshow in Shibuya. Drank straight from the can on the train home. Nice big aromas of citrus and pine resin. Hop-forward taste with strong bitterness but still has the malt present to balance it out fairly well. Solid IPA.

12 oz can poured into a stemmed tulip. A bread and marmalade aroma come through with a slight dampness, toffee, and juicy citrus supporting aromas. It’s oily and clear with an amber hue and a soft, light tan, dense foam head with good retain and lace. The taste is a medium high bitter and medium sweet blend. The texture is oily with a soapy fuzz carbonation. The medium body is lightly flavored with bread and bitter marmalade and it finishes with a crisp zip and toasted rye bread, as well as a juicy citrus and bitter citrus peel. The aftertaste is bitter and waxy with heavy bitter grapefruit, toasted rye bread, and some grass notes. It’s aftertaste is fairly strong with a medium long length.

12oz bottle in a tulip. Pours amber with an off-white head. Aroma of floral and bitter and lightly citrusy hops, some pale and caramel malts, and dough. Flavor the same. Average texture. Not the best IPA.
