brewandbbq (227), Manchester, New Hampshire, USA May 2, 2008 Pours dark copper and clear, no chill haze.
A white head developed to a peak of a quater inch, and retreated fairly quick to reveal some light lacework and whisps on the surface.
Aromatics are filled with citrusy and tropical fruits. Tangerine, peach, and grapefruit atop a crisp, light malt accent. The nose continues with pear skins and pine resin.
Mouthfeel is crisp and snappy, with lingering bitterness.
The pallet is juicy and hoppy with a mild alcohol note. Citrus fruits with marmalade and grape jam fill the lupulin bill, with a drying, crisp, refreshing quality.
Finishes with a smooth, lingering bitterness and additional hop resin.
While the aromatics or flavors of the hopping aren’t blastingly pungent, Big eye gets high marks for drinkability.
Lagunitasfan (95), San Diego, California, USA Dec 4, 2008 On hand pumped cask at Stone today. Dry hopped with Centennial and German Tettanger Hops. Amazing dense white head. Took a long time for foam to rise and settle, like a Boddingtons from the can. Nice orange amber color. Smooth and mellow body with sweet bite from the hops. Piny and sharp, but mellow too. Nik925 (176), USA Nov 29, 2008 Blueberries and bubblegum aroma that sadly does not transfer to the taste. Not bottle conditioned??? Strong bitterness with some berry flavor on the back of the tongue. An excellent average IPA . yngwie (3762), Kristiansand, Norway Nov 29, 2008 Bottle, 22oz, at the European Beer Festival, Copenhagen. A clear, dark golden beer with a small off-white head. Hop-driven nose with a nice blend of citrus, pinecones and resin. Malt in the background. The flavor goes in the same direction with the maltyness playing second violin, and it ends with a lasting bitter finish. Full body. Quenching, easy to drink IPA. Lovely. (080912) elihapa (407), Hawaii, USA Nov 20, 2008 11/6/08 notes: bomber, $4.99. Pours light gold-orange, with medium head. Soapy aroma, with strong floral notes. Palate is crisp, with lingering finish. Flavors of tangerine, lime, and grapefruit are most prominent. Overall, this beer was perfectly tasty, a very soapy rendition of a west coast IPA. I only knock the mid-palate, which was somewhat empty. It ended up seeming like a void bookended by delicious hops. nbutler11 (305), Phoenix, Arizona, USA Nov 20, 2008 On tap at Chandler Whole Foods with cascade hops. Pours a light golden color with a respectable white head. Loaded with hops in the aroma and flavor. Faint citrus and malt. Perfect for pairing with bar food.
