Indra (1845), Prairie Village, Kansas, USA Jun 3, 2008 12oz. bottle. Hoppy, fruity aroma, citric and fresh with notes of grapefruit, pineapple and a bit of toasted caramel maltiness as counterpoint. Clear deep golden color with a lasting, fine, white head. Flavor is very hop-oriented, these contributing a good deal of resinous, juicy citrus and sharp bitterness throughout, but again seeing a touch of toasted, honeyish malt here and there to provide sweetness and balance. Finishes dry and clean, with a lingering bitter hop tang. Mouthfeel is oily, sharp and moderately effervescent, body is medium. A sure bet to satisfy one’s hop fix. Single-hopped with Centennial, I understand.
Swolf3 (99), Elkton, Maryland, USA Oct 14, 2008 Bottle Thanks to Robert at Stateline. Poured golden with white head, Aroma was was pne and citrus. Taste was pine citrus and nice malt balance. finished smooth. Overall an easy drinkable IPA. kpresley77 (95), Jackson, Georgia, USA Oct 9, 2008 Bottle courtesy of weeheavysd pours hazy amber/copper with thin quick diminishing white head. Aroma is pine and citrus hops. First taste is pine and citrus hops burn. Pretty strong hops flavor, not sure the IBUs are 55 seem more like 80+. Not enough malt backbone for me. The_Captain (339), Lancaster, Pennsylvania, USA Oct 7, 2008 KSBF 08- Orange copper pour with a foam head. Floral hops and citrus. This was a citrus (Pine-grapefruit) hop brew with hop notes and a blended malt balance. Good lacing with some hop bitterness towards the end. Ok, not my favorite. rayOfBeer (265), El Cerrito, California, USA Oct 5, 2008 Poured from tap an amber-orange with small off white head. Nose is leafy floral hops with some citrus and sweet malt. Flavor is malty with a little sweetness, floral hops, orange citrus, pine, and some grapefruit that is lighly bitter. Palate is malty full with some sweetness and a mild hoppy bitter plus quite a bit of astringent alcohol noticible. Overall some nice flavors and aroma. The alcohol in the finish took away some of the enjoyment, but still good. afireinside96 (498), Mountville, Pennsylvania, USA Oct 3, 2008 12oz bottle served in a stem glass. Orange amber body topped by a half inch of head. Sweet piney grapefruit nose. Lots of pine in the flavor, very resinous, tangerine, some grapefruit, and a nice caramel sweetness to back it up. Some lingering bitterness. The head doesn’t last very long but it somehow leaves a nice spiderweb of lace. This is a very nice IPA.
