WISEGUY572 (1126), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA May 20, 2008 This is a fine west cost American IPA. Almost on a par with a Stone Ruination. Problem is ... they’re late. Stone and others have been making fine West Coast IPAs for years now. Good clear copper pour, with a small white head that leaves almost no lacing. Good grapefruit and pine nose and taste, with a long hoppy finish, hints of malt and caramel. Maybe even a little thin compared to the best of the genre. Fine beer, just not innovative enough to displace my current favs.
kpresley77 (95), Jackson, Georgia, USA Oct 9, 2008 Bottle courtesy of weeheavysd pours hazy amber/copper with thin quick diminishing white head. Aroma is pine and citrus hops. First taste is pine and citrus hops burn. Pretty strong hops flavor, not sure the IBUs are 55 seem more like 80+. Not enough malt backbone for me. The_Captain (331), Lancaster, Pennsylvania, USA Oct 7, 2008 KSBF 08- Orange copper pour with a foam head. Floral hops and citrus. This was a citrus (Pine-grapefruit) hop brew with hop notes and a blended malt balance. Good lacing with some hop bitterness towards the end. Ok, not my favorite. rayOfBeer (265), El Cerrito, California, USA Oct 5, 2008 Poured from tap an amber-orange with small off white head. Nose is leafy floral hops with some citrus and sweet malt. Flavor is malty with a little sweetness, floral hops, orange citrus, pine, and some grapefruit that is lighly bitter. Palate is malty full with some sweetness and a mild hoppy bitter plus quite a bit of astringent alcohol noticible. Overall some nice flavors and aroma. The alcohol in the finish took away some of the enjoyment, but still good. afireinside96 (498), Mountville, Pennsylvania, USA Oct 3, 2008 12oz bottle served in a stem glass. Orange amber body topped by a half inch of head. Sweet piney grapefruit nose. Lots of pine in the flavor, very resinous, tangerine, some grapefruit, and a nice caramel sweetness to back it up. Some lingering bitterness. The head doesn’t last very long but it somehow leaves a nice spiderweb of lace. This is a very nice IPA. radagast83 (1071), Springfield, Virginia, USA Oct 2, 2008 Pours a yellow/orange color with a small head. Aroma is grassy, with notes of strong hops and citrus. Flavor is citrus with a nice hoppy piney bitterness to it.
