4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 beermatrix (1497) - Twin Cities, USA - NOV 2, 2005
Honey hued amber color and moderately clear with some very slow bubbles within. Nice tall cap of ivory fluff sits on top after a medium pour. Laces very well with rings of left over patchy foam and broken sheeting, some thick, some thin.
Aroma is heavenly plump with a high ended but well rounded citrus tone of lemon and orange peels surrounded by a parched and toasted grapefruit and slight piney bittered residue coating. Carries a partially sweet under tow of malts leaning in a candied melon and caramel aura. Tends to pick up a bit of grassy spices as it warms.
Taste is mildly crisp and clean with a very tender and easy bitterness to its hop tone. Toasty controlled parts of citrusy hops and malts really take a step towards a quick drying parchment as it cruises across the palate leaving traces of dried lemon, grapefruit, orange peels, and lightly spicy grasses along with a high grained toastyness of added bittering bite. Maintains a fairly balanced approach in the bitterness but takes a bit of an overload of the toasted dryness. It squeezes alot of dryness in while keeping just a nudge of sweetness underneath keeping its all-together firmly set hop tone of drying bitterness from going too far. It seemed to change balance from certain sips to others with the parching dryness as it warmed.
Feel is calm and smooth with a clean, unwavering medium body and a yielding tone of bitterness. Dryness is apparently the dominant characteristic, but tends to change some as it warms. Piney, parched finish with a slightly sweet and toasted background.
A firm standing IPA. A pretty decent showing thats drinkable to the extent of getting use to its overall parching dryness that tends to fade in and out as it warms.
4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20 JStax (834) - Devola, Ohio, USA - MAY 26, 2012
Bottle poured into a brandy snifter. Appearance is a nice copper with a sticky white head of foam about half an inch thick. Nice retention. Not much in the way of lacing. The aroma is grapefruit and orange peel. Some breadiness comes through as well. Taste is a great mix of bitterness, pungency, sweetness, peppercorn spice. Super drinkable. I rseally like this beer.

A good, yellow IPA that’s rather new in Texas. A good dose of hops for a bit of pine flavor and a slight bit of sweetness.

Hazy amber orange pour, with a small dissipating. Nose is all citrus and pine. Taste full of flavor, nice bitterness but not maddening so ! Finishes smooth with some lasting bitterness, easily drinkable and quite refreshing IPA. Quaff Score ( drinkability with hearty enjoyment ) 8 / 10

Pours a golden amber with an off white head and strong aroma of hops and citrus. Taste is very hoopy, of grass, pine, and citrus with a heavy bitter, dry finish. Nice, strong hoppy IPA, delicious.

650ml bottle from Brewdog shop. Poured hazy orange with a frothy, lasting white head, nice lacing. Aroma has tropical fruity hoppy and caramel malt. Flavor has sweet malt, hops, tropical fruits and great dry bitterness. Not very fresh example I think, but still quite enjoyable.

One of my new go-to IPAs. Nice piney, citrusy notes. Great consistency mouth feel. Clean tasting, but lots of good stuff happening on the palate.

On tap at Petco Park Ballast Point cart. Pours a amber with little head. aroma is of light citrus and some pine, with a little bready malts. flavor is bitterly hopped with fresh cut pine, grapefruit rinds, bready malts, and some caramel. Has a medium body with a nice creamy mouthfeel and a dry, bitter, long finish. overall, a nice ipa from BA that is a nice beer to drink while watching the padres.
