On tap at the source. Pours a dark brown with a thin mocha head. Aroma is a balance between malty caramel and roast. Flavor leans toward the roast. Nice beer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Keg at the Ballast Point taproom - San Diego. Pours deep brown with a foamy beige head. Good balance, some toasty bread, light mocha, dirt. Light to medium bodied with average carbonation. Finishes with soft roast, more bread, a bit of oily pine, baking cocoa. Good stuff.

Deep brown in color with a nice off-white head. Dry piney-hop aroma. Nice moderate roast character with strong dry piney hop notes.

Keg blend at BP Little Italy, 12/11/14 - looked like a fairly 50/50 split. Dark mahogany brown with a decent tan covering. Nose is bitter roast, earthy hops, light charr, pine needles, red berry snappage. Taste comprises earthy hops, bitter tropical fruit infusion, light smoke, hint of cocoa, pine. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close with a bitter hop wash. Solid CDA.

>> Deep, clear red pour with good foam. Excellent Black IPA nose, grilled lemon and orange. Tremendously rich with light roast, vanilla, and big hops. Taste is solid Black IPA with low roast, mild soil, but ultimately it is spot on and excellent all around- extremely hop forward, mild roast, great mouthfeel. Really good, I guess this is the secret to good Black IPA :O

On tap at the India St Tasting Room. Deep brown in color with an average cream colored head. Aroma is of chocolate, coffee, cocoa, roasted malts, pine, and grapefruit. Taste is of pine, bitter florals, cocoa, light coffee, and citrus. Nice blend...surprised that itís not pre-blended, but blended from the tap. Guess it makes sense though.

Pours a dark amber with tan head. Has a sweet aroma of tropical fruit, chocolate, and pine. Taste is sweet but a little watered down with fruits, light hops, and some malts. Slightly bitter aftertaste.

On draft at Tap 25. Wow, I really enjoyed this one. It pours a ruby red/brown color with an off white head. The aroma is cocoa, bread and tropical fruit with some light floral and citrus esters. The flavor is very nice with more of the IPA showing through up front. Tropical fruit, citrus and florals followed by some cocoa, toast and bread. It has a bitter finish. This is a really nice blend. Very drinkable with good interplay between the IPA and Porter bases. Recommended.
