COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A hoppy twist on the classic English Porter. Our Black Marlin Porter stands out in a town known primarily for its IPA’s. We craft it from a unique blend of roasted and crystallized malts that give it a smooth, chocolaty, caramel profile. Then toss in a healthy dose of American hops to serve up full-bodied flavor worthy of its San Diego roots.

Thanks to beastiefan2k for this one. Dark brown black beer with a thin head. Aroma is quite sweet and plummy. Dark malts, chewy and lightly fruity. Quite coffeeish and roasty, with strong herbal notes and some light molasses sweetness. Earthy and herbal on the back, but with a good balance of sweet and roast. Even a bit of tartness on the back.

tap at Stone Bistro..... poured a deeper brown, almost black when compared to Stone’s Smoked Porter. medium off-white head topped it off.... aroma of burnt roasted coffee, baker’s chocolate, and a little smoke which was more prominent than stone’s.... flavors ot toasty roasted malt, chocolate, a little ashy. more of a sweetness comes through in this one....a very good porter.

Vanilla and chocolate on the nose, hints of coffee and roasted malts. Pours black with a thick tan head. Smooth roasted flavors, vanilla, some chocolate, sweet coffee, molasses. Very light on the palate, a good session porter.

22 oz bomber. Pours a dark cola with a burgundy tint and a small light brown head. Aroma of sweet baking chocolate, malt and cocoa. Taste is malty with a strong cocoa and baking chocolate presence. Very nice porter.

Pours dark cola brown with a frothy, khaki colored head that settles to a bubbly layer. A prominent, foamy rim leaves behind random spots of lacing. The aroma is very much chocolate driven, with mocha, cola, and toasted woodsy notes all coming through. The flavor is quite roasty, with chocolate again asserting itself. There’s a nice creaminess to the coffee component, which works very well with the wood flavors. A touch of caramel or molasses sweetness balances things out just right. Falling just on the lighter side of medium bodied, this smooth porter is perfectly carbonated and incredibly easy to drink. A long, roasty, moderately dry finish makes you crave the next sip. This is a really nice session porter. I could enjoy quite a few of these.

Bottle from Dirty_Martini. Black body with a medium-sized, frothy tan head. Rich malty nose with lots of toffee, cola, chocolate and coffee. The flavor is lightly sweet, lightly bitter and very roasty with gobs of dark chocolate, some coffee and caramel. Medium body is slightly thin with moderate carbonation.

Pours a dark brown color with a thin, light brown head that fades quickly. Smells of dark malts, not really toasty malts, just dark. A little chocolatey. Tastes earthy, slightly chocolatey, malty. Not too thin, nice and full bodied for a porter. Nice vibrant carbonation. Not the greatest porter I’ve ever had, but this is a quality one for sure.

tap at the brewery - Pours very dark brown and has a coffee rich aroma of dark roast malt. The flavors of roast malt and coffee accents are well balanced by some quality hops. It’s medium bodied and overall a very enjoyable porter.

This black bodied stout pours with a tan head and gives off a chocolaty aroma with perhaps hints of caramel and coffee. The flavor glides over your tongue with a slightly oil texture and leaves a subtle bitter finish. While it’s not nearly my favorite stout it is an enjoyable beer with respectable chocolate malt character.
