A hoppy twist on the classic English Porter. Our Black Marlin Porter stands out in a town known primarily for its IPA’s. We craft it from a unique blend of roasted and crystallized malts that give it a smooth, chocolaty, caramel profile. Then toss in a healthy dose of American hops to serve up full-bodied flavor worthy of its San Diego roots.

Aroma is dark roast malts, meaty, and chocolate. Pours a dark brown with mostly dinimishing small tan head. The taste is Richard ROBUST. Roasted malts in the beginning, a touch of chocolate in the middle, and a nice balanced bitter hoppy finish. Full body and medium carbonation. Nice contrast of smoothness and carbonation. Overall, this was an excellant robust porter. Would drink again…and again.

Deep black with quickly fading brown head. Roast cocoa nibs dipped in caramel on the nose. Full bodied with deep roast notes like 85% cocoa chocolate spread on toast. Lasting grass filled bitter finish. Outstanding! Rated by BrewTom

Pours a nice brownish black color. Aromas of espresso, chocolate, and a hint of bitter smoke. Flavor has a burnt chocolate/coffee taste to it, nice touch of creaminess coming in at the end. Damn fine porter.

Pours a near black from a bottle. Burnt molasses odor with coffee beans, flavor somewhat similar with an oddly thick oily mouthfeel. Meh.

Black/brown pour - thin tan head. Aroma is heavily roasted malt, hint of charred nuts, coffee, chocolate, and a slight grassy hop note. Flavor is a lot more of the heavily roasted malt, dose of dark roast coffee, caramel, and then has a nice hop bitterness to offset things. Palate appropriate for the style. Nice beer overall!

Motor oil brown, opaque, huge tan head with a scent of cocoa, burnt toast and day old milk. A tasty blend of roasted malts, mineral salt, cocoa, has a bitter hop follow mixed with the mineral tanginess of licking a penny. I know that doesn’t sound appetizing but it works.

Beautiful ruby mahogany with a beige head. Semi-sweet with a perfect moderate bitterness. Mild dryness. Cocoa. A great roastiness. Some smokey, peaty goodness. Earth. Molasses. Bit of pine. Hint of fruitiness. Medium body. Excellent.
