COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Ballast Point Black Marlin Porter is a rich dark chocolaty Porter with a distinctive American hop character. It is nitrogen dispensed which gives it a creamy texture, thick head and a balanced flavor that is reminiscent of traditional British cask conditioned ales. It is a great beer to go with hearty foods and is surprisingly one of the few beers that goes well with dessert.

22 oz bottle, via zug4abby. Pours a very dark brown with a little mahogany in the edges under a creamy two finger light brown head. Nice lacing with no sediment in bottle. Chocolate malt dominates the aroma with touches of caramel, light hoppiness, roast, and light coffee. Flavor is chocolate malt, moderate bitterness, and a dry chalky finish. A little coffee in the finish as well. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with moderate fizzy carbonation. Kind of chalky in texture on the finish. Overall, an average Porter. Drinkable, but nothing outstanding.

Served on Nitro. Opaque brown black body, Thin, patchy beige head. Deep and rich, this is a really balanced, excellent Porter. Big roasty chocolate tone, but also a nice hop balance. Rich, woderfully executed. Phenomenal, World Class.

65 cl bottle @ home. Pours black with a little sediment and a tan head that leaves some lacing. Aroma is roasted malt, chocolate, and grapefruity hops. Flavour is roasted malt and chocolate – with a smooth finish. Very drinkable.

---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Loved it! Smooth, dark, rich taste. Wish I had bought more of them. A new favourite to have with a roast dinner.

Nice nutty and roasted taste. A but earthy in the aroma. Not sure if this has to do with this being expired but its thinner on the palate than I would expect for a porter. - Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bomber. Deep brown color with some reddish highlights and a thin tan head on top. The aroma is rather chocolaty; ash, toasty malt, and very light dark fruity notes mix in. The body is creamy but a shade on the thin side. The flavor shows bitter dark chocolate, sweet dark fruit, roasty-ashy malt, some sweet mocha, and dry bitter hops. The finished product is a touch sweet, but there’s enough bitterness and roast to counter most that. This isn’t great but it is a very solid, well-rounded, Porter. No complaints.

Nose is of faint chocolate and oats. Flavour is of mild bitterness with a tiny hint of citrus. Kind of poor finish though.

This bottled brew from a bottle shop poured a head of foamy fine to medium sized brown colored bubbles that were mostly lasting and left behind a no visible carbonation opaque except at the edges dark black brown colored body and a good lacing. The almost non-existent aroma was malty. . The flavor contained notes of black malt roasted malt mildly vinous toasted malt dark malt and hops. A decent one that I would consider drinking again.
