COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A hoppy twist on the classic English Porter. Our Black Marlin Porter stands out in a town known primarily for its IPA’s. We craft it from a unique blend of roasted and crystallized malts that give it a smooth, chocolaty, caramel profile. Then toss in a healthy dose of American hops to serve up full-bodied flavor worthy of its San Diego roots.

Faint aroma’s of vanilla, caramel, cocoa and carbonation. Appears black with a two finger foam that does not leave. Taste is dark cocoa, black malts, chocolate, dry coffee bean resin and dry black malts. Overall, very dry porter with some nice hop presence. Bitter carbonation and piney hops. Nice porter. B+ rating.

Not bad but I was expecting more. Faint roasted malt aroma., with a slight hoppiness. Standard dark brown or chocolate color. Palate was a little light and watery for my liking. Roasted and chocolate notes with a good hops balance. Just a little mild for my preference.

Pours a dark black color with a small java colored head. Nose is light sweet malt with more subtle cocoa. Taste is sweet coffee and chocolate malt, and light on the palate. Finishes sweetly with cocoa notes. A very light easily drinkable porter, plain and simple. Quaff Score 7 / 10

Pours an opaque black from the nitro tap with creamy tan head that lasts to leave good lace. Aroma is chocolate and roasted malts and a hint of fruity yeast esters. Taste follows, leans more towards the chocolate with some nice coffee notes. Creamy and thick but goes down very easy, a hint of hop bitterness. Very nice porter.

22oz bottle. black with a stable creamy brown head. nose of burnt toast and some caramel sweetness. roast forward that leaves and burnt, ashy, char aftertaste. some floral hops follow. smooth, drinkable palate. i really think ballast point has their carbonation levels dialed in to match styles.

Bottle. Smooth and chocolaty mouthfeel with a nice kick of bitterness. Not too much roasty character. Well balanced and very drinkable ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
