COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Is it right? Seems a bit excessive really. But we did it anyway, because we can. We have aged our Tongue Buckler Imperial Red Ale in bourbon barrels and it is ready to drink. Yep, that 10% ABV monstrosity has been, as they say, kicked up a notch. It was a quick stay in the barrel. We didnít want the beer to lose all of itís hallmark hoppiness. And after only a couple of months, a lot remains. Flavors of vanilla and oak now intertwine with the malty sweetness and are countered by a pronounced hop bitterness. What was complex is now impossible to unravel. It really has to be tasted to be understood.

Canít say this is better than the "regular" Tongue Buckler,. The hops are such that they still come through, though the barrel is strong as well. Nice sipper, a must for any big fans of BA beers.

Poured from a bottle. Not much head. Deep red color. Smell of hops hits you instantly. Deep malty flavor up front followed by a punch of west coast hops.

Pours a reddish brown thin tan head with deccent lacing. Aroma is of toasted sweet malts, stone fruits, woody bourbon, vanilla, and some molasses. Taste is rally smooth and as a very nice combination of smooth bourbon and nice fruit notes. Has a medium body with a slighty creamy mouthfeel and a semi dry, semi bitter finish. Overall, a very mellowed out version of tounge buckler that is very tasty and drinkable compared to the orginal.

Tap @ hamiltons. Fuck yeah...this is tongue buckler stripped of the palate raping hoppiness and dosed with smooth boozy softness. This is the way tongue buckler was meant to be...I like the reg version but this is a fuck bunch of a step up. Fruity malty/hop flavors come out...smooth with the barrel influence. I hate rating beers and typing stupid shit like this so Iím gonna stop talking now, apply some random numbers to make it a high rating and then ima fuck off just like you should.

Aroma, more hop forward than i expected. Taste is vanilla and hop forward which is odd here. Good hop retention but still not sure how the barrel works here. The vanilla is there but doesnít really bring much to the table.

(Draught) Pours a lightly hazy orange body with a moderate off-white head. Aroma of caramel, raisins, vanilla, wood, and bourbon. Flavor of caramel, orange, toffee, light pine, bourbon, wood, and vanilla with a dry, bitter finish.

10oz pour, $6 at OíBrienís. Phone rate. Hazy medium brownish orange with a small creamy beige head, down to a lasting thick film. Nose has dominant bourbon with moderate toffee notes following. Flavor has dominant bourbon and wood with citrus green hops and toffee behind. Def not as hoppy as the regular version, but definitely doesnít taste like old hops. Moderate sweet caramel follows to a semi-dry earthy finish, bitterness peaking at a 5. Low carbonation with a big full sticky body. Bourbon does not improve everything, but this is still good. Not as good as the original, as LtDan says below me. My 8 and 7 are interchangeable for aroma and flavor.

Appearance: pours an iced tea brown with a white micro film for head.

Aroma: Dark fruit bouquet. Cherry Cough drops.

Taste: Sweet toasty malt, bitter hops, finishes with an earthy barrel note.

Mouthfeel: Sticky, modest carbonation.

Overall: I like my Tongue Buckler fresh and hoppy. I didnít like it once it was put in the bourbon barrel.

Clear orange with a fizzy white head. Bourbon and molasses aroma and taste with candy sugar notes and a sweet citrus finish.
