3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours a deep brown copper with nice had and great lacing. Aroma is sweet with a mix of bready caramel malts and floral hops. Taste is sweet bread malts, into a medium bitter middle, then a nice bready aftertaste with some residual sweetness and underlying bitterness. Balanced and tasty. An ideal West Coast session ale.

Draught. Clear deep copper liquid with medium off-white head. Aroma of citrus, toffee, bread, pine, marmalade, sweet malt, candy and caramel. Taste is light sweet and light to medium bitter with notes of citrus, bread, biscuit, toffee and caramel. Medium bodied with medium carbonation. Quite nice.

A really solid answer ale. Nice bright citrus aromas along with toasted bread malts. Flavors are rye malt and bitter citrus rind. A nice offering from ballast point.

This definitely doesn’t taste representative of ambers. It has a big hop load, and the malts are your traditional vegetal mess of murky left-overs. So, the question is: are all the other ambers not following the proper recipe, or is this amber actually just a different beer (APA perhaps) with a label that says amber? Bottle.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Great example off an under-loved style, that always gets unfairly compared to American pale ale. This has more body, more caramel malt richness, and more lingering hop bitterness. And lots of C-hop goodness in the aroma and taste.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle sampled at a tasting event. From notes. Bitter with grassy and citrus hops. Decent caramel malt backbone. Not bad.

3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours clear brown/dark amber with almost no head (light beige). Minimal lacing. Aroma is of molasses, bread, dark fruits, licorice, malt. Taste is of english hops, sugar, malt, caramel, bitterness, some citrus. Palate: Light-medium body. Decent balance. Overall: Nice malt features. Bottle is a tad older than best before date, but nothing crazy. Enjoyable. Not very drinkable, but OK.

3.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Draft at Farmers Cabinet. Red copper pour that starts with a generous foamy off-white head. Surprisingly full palate. Quite decent. Plums galore. Nice.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours a slightly hazy red with a medium offwhite head that leaves great lacing. Aroma is "barleywine-ish", sweet and hoppy. Some floral and earthy notes here and there (felt woody, even). Taste is medium bitter and moderately sweet. Flavors of brown sugar and vegetal (dried grass). Light bodied, lightly carbonated. Texture is oily. Not bad but maybe a little old as I just noticed the "Enjoy By 03/05/13" on the label. Still a fair one!

3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Poured a dark brown with a single finger of light brown head. Great malt taste, with a bitter hoppy finish. Not my favorite, but well done anyways.
