COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A rich, copper ale with a case full of gold medals. Our Calico Amber Ale takes its inspiration from traditional English ESBs. Four types of malts give it a bold complexity, and our proprietary yeast strain lends it a fruity, madeira-like richness. However, it’s the American hops that give this ale a distinct bite and floral aroma that have earned it just about every major beer medal.

Aroma: nutty, toffee/caramel aromas dominate. Appearance: crystal clear and lives up to the amber moniker. Taste: the malt flavor is center stage followed up by big bitterness to reign in the malt. Palate: middle of the road, moderate effervescence and body. Overall: I prefer my Ambers pretty hoppy so this one isn’t quite for me but still it’s a well made amber.

Rated from notes taken 6 Aug 2011 -- Very much enjoy this Amber. More flavor than a bunch of "crowd pleaser" Ambers. One of my favorites.

"I can see the high ranking for this amber. The maltiness is very pleasant, with just enough hops so it’s not overly sweet. Well done in-style........"

From notes. Tasted on 6/30/12 at the 1st Annual Chimipalooza, from bottle. Pours clear amber with a thick tan head that leaves thick lace. The nose is some caramel with a touch of resin citrus peel hops. The flavor is a bit more intense than I expected with the same notes from the nose. The body is medium with average carbonation and a medium bitter hops finish.

Flaska från SBs beställningssortiment. Kopparfärgad med ett tjockt krämigt skum. Fin kropp med komplexa relativt torra karamellsmaker, toffee, smörkakor och lite citrushumle i bakgrunden. Välgjord, okonstlad, drickbar, rena fina smaker. Riktigt trevlig.

Pours a darker amber, with a decent white head. Toffee aroma with some hops. Not so much malt in this one, bitter hops seem to take over. A good tasting beer.

Bottle at Brewdog Stockholm, april 18th 2014. Deep copper body with a good lasting offwhite head. Caramelized aroma with toast, pine and grapefruit. Taste starts quite piney, with a rich malt base, grass, strong bitterness, nutty and hoppy finish, dry piney aftertaste. Not bad, and one I belive is better the fresher it is.

Cor cobre, com espuma de boa formação e persistência. No aroma, caramelo, passas. No sabor, passas, torrado, amargor médio e persistente. Seco ao final. Muito boa. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours a med amber, med off white head. Aroma is caramel, bread, pine, cedar, floral hop. Flavor is light sweet transitioning to bitter pine hop, lasting. Med body, great balance for an amber... Good hop dosage while still being a malt heavy brew.
