A rich, copper ale with a case full of gold medals. Our Calico Amber Ale takes its inspiration from traditional English ESBs. Four types of malts give it a bold complexity, and our proprietary yeast strain lends it a fruity, madeira-like richness. However, it’s the American hops that give this ale a distinct bite and floral aroma that have earned it just about every major beer medal.

Aroma is primarly floral and citrusy. A dark reddish amber pour with a mostly lasting tan head and loads of sticky lacing. The taste is hoppy (piney - citrusy) up front with malts playing second fiddle. Medium body and medium carbonation. Overall, ok, but too hops forward for my taste. Having said that, this would extremely pleasing on a HOT Texas afternoon.

Bottle. Rich caramel malt aroma with notes of toffee and a bit of brown sugar. Pours amber colored with a thin tan head with good retention and some lacing. Starts with rich caramel malt sweetness with some toffee malt as well. Finishes quite smooth with the brown sugary sweetness overwhelming a slight hoppiness at the end. Very well made amber.

Nice twist on esb style, with a handful of hops to cut through the thick malt layer. Nice.

Gorgeous lustrous coppery colour with a carpet of cream coloured head and lots of sparkle. Aromas of stonefruit - nectarines and peaches as well as pine-resin. The body is medium to full and is enhanced by dessert flavours and punchy bitterness. The bitterness sees a lengthy finish that rewards.

12oz bottle. Pours dark red/amber with a foamy beige head. Aroma is of hops, grass, caramel, and malt. Some citrus in there as well. Taste is of grassy hops and citrus. It is balanced out by a bready malt backbone. Lingering grassy taste. Has an underlying fruit taste that comes through more as it warms. Mouthfeel is medium, and slightly creamy. Body is medium, and heavily carbonated. Drinks very easy. Really good.
