Tried on Beer Quest 2010 with all the guys. This was number 6. Pour was clear light brown. No head. Aroma was aggressive. Hops and Pine. Flavor was alcohol. Very aggressive as well. Seems much closer to an IPA. Nice balance though.

Pours a clear, darker amber with a medium white head. Aroma is balanced well and contains floral hops, toffee, pine, and some citrus grapefruit. The taste has a good amount of citrus, being mostly grapefruit and hints of lemon and orange. In addition, I find caramel and yeast. Its bitter, with a piney citrus grapefruit aftertaste. Medium bodied, sticky in texture, with a lot more lively carbonation than I was expecting. This is pretty good. Its tasty and easy drinking.

Pours unfiltered amber with full off white head. Floral aroma with hint of hops and citrus. Slightly hoppy taste but definitely not overpowering. Very good amber ale. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle. Fucken A, bros, NY is finally getting some Ballast Point goodness and it LIFTS. Pours a ...wait for it... Amber color with a slightly off white head. Aromas of toffee and some floral hops. Taste is bitter-sweet up front but finishes dry with a nice hop bite. Good.

Bottle. Apparently out of date. Nose is pretty much dead. Malt profile is still excellent. Lots of caramel. Hop profile unfortunately non-existent. Will seek out a fresh bottle because a decent hop profile would make this very nice. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

On tap @ Three Penny taproom. Clear amber with a medium persistent beige head and good lacing. Aroma is hoppy with caramel, peated notes, earthy presence and some citrus. Taste is slightly to moderately sweet with peated and earthy notes, caramel, spices and a slight hoppy finish. Light to medium body. Good Amber Ale. Drinkable. Reminiscence of whiskey.

Sessionable. The trouble with amber ales for me is that they too easily become sticky, what with all that caramel and toffee malt and stuff. This is a goodie in that the carbonation, bitterness and slight hint of sourness all conspire to cut through the muck at the back end. Did I just say that?

Sampled at a recent Wirtz Beverage/Illinois seminar, and poured by staff from 12 oz. bottles to stemware displaying a clear, brownish amber color, with frothy, light tan head foam, and decent lacing. The nose was light but fresh fruitiness and caramel. A crisp and steadily lingering hop bitterness was key to the flavor. Light to medium bodied, and tastefully sessionable.

Nice pleasant aroma. Good balance of malt and hops. Its got hints of caramel and bready sweetness but its contrasted by the bitterness in the hops. Its not too heavy on the palate, so its possible to drink several. This will be a good beer for kicking it on the porch during a hot summers day.
