4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Hazy orange colored pour with a thin soapy head. The aromas are strong tropical & grapefruit. Bitter right off the bat, and even more so on the finish. There is also a light burn and noticeable alcohol presence. Overall Powerful, flavorful, bitter, and a little boozy.

Bottle. 2nd or 3rd time Iíve had this and Iím just now getting the fact that the watermelon is a dorado and not a sculpin. That would explain why the night I had 3 of them I didnít feel so good. Strong sweet and malty nose. Hazy Amber with a thin white head. Strong as all get out and with a peppery, almost spicy pepper aspect. Where the watermelon is deceptively strong, this one is quite evidently strong. But all kinds of good.

Pours clear gold with white head. Not getting much from the aroma, little citrus. Caramel & toffee on the malt side , pretty bitter with lots of pine and some grass, little bit of citrus. Pretty east to drink for a 10% IPA. Not bad, I suspect its a little old.

I am not sure why this excellent brew from Ballast Point doesnít get 100. This is a very smooth beer for an ABV rating of 10. Hoppy, crisp taste and easy to drink. Currently my favorite beer.

Wow! One of the best double IPAs Iíve ever tried. You cannot taste the 10% ABV because it is masterfully balanced and it goes down so smoothly. I have always been a fan of Victoryís Dirtwolf, but somehow, this one has a smoother finish. Other doubles tend to have a boozy taste, but not in this case. Love the bitter pine and citrus punch. Cheers!

4.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle. Copper pour with a white head. Light grass aroma, less hoppy than expected for a double. Medium to heavy bitterness, the hops come through evenly in the finish. I like this a lot, even if not the hop bomb as advertised.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
An OK Double IPA which is drinkable but not anything citrus or floral or hoppy in a way I like.
On tap at Ballast Point tasting room.

4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Clear deep gold to orange with a head like churned butter. Tropical fruit, tangerines and a solid hop presence. Good feel, slick, nice body, loads of hops but well balanced with shovel loads of malt, chewy. Man thereís tons of depth in this, even more pronounced as the chill fades, just lovely at cellar temp. Obviously the hops take the lead role in a IIPA but donít overlook the malt, thereís a solid foundation of grain to build that hop tower upon and build they do! Iím a hophead so my opinion might be a tad biased but DAYUM, this is really good!

bottle. golden with small head. medium body, lightly sweet with big piney hops. fairly strong bitterness. a well made imperial ipa, but not particularly unique. booze well hidden for the abv.
