amber color; citrusy hop aroma; dry, citrusy hop flavor; lots of citrusy, grapefruit notes; very light malt base; all about the citrusy hops; surprisingly light malt base for the alcohol levels achieved

Nothing special but has a swimmingly good balance of pine, grapefruit and orange marmalade with burnt caramel and ......whoops forgot it was 10% which is the most distinguishing comment.

Decent appearance but I think the hops were a bit oxidized. Very good body and the beer is quite drinkable. Don’t notice the alcohol.

Copper color. Dry hop aroma. Flavor has sweet malt, which I expected based on the high abv.. Balanced by the dryness of the dorado hops. Dry and earthy flavors, some wild grass and flowers. Fairly heavy palate, and it took awhile to drink one glass. Good.

355ml bottle. Clear, orangey, deep golden colour with average, frothy, fairly lasting, minimally lacing, off-white head. Citrusy and piney, hoppy aroma, notes of lemon, grapefruit, orange, orange zest, pineapple, caramel malty background. Taste is tropical fruity, bitter hoppy, piney and resinous, notes of grapefruit, orange, candied orange zest, robust caramel malty backbone. Exposes the typical Ballast Point features: very clean and crafted with engineering sophistcation, drinkable like a softdrink on a children’s birthday party.

Bomber. 20 days old. Clear gold with a large, foamy, off white head that lasts and laces. Aromas of grapefruit, pine, caramel, light orange peel, perfume, and biscuit. Flavor is grapefruit, pine, caramel, earthiness, spice, and light herbal notes. Medium bodied, smooth with a dry, warm end.

22 oz bomber from Molly’s Spirits into a stemless wine glass. Dark orange to light amber and pretty clear in appearance with a big, lingering plateau of beige head, patchy lacing and a bit of active carbonation. Aroma of Pine-Sol, soap, earthy notes, light herbs, resinous hops, light alcohol and light caramel malt. The flavor is heavy, aggressive hop bitterness and mild malt sweetness. Medium to full body with a bitter, light soapy, light boozy finish. Pretty harsh and not very fun to drink. This is not what I look for in this style. Minimal citrus and tropical fruit characteristics that I enjoy in many hopped up beers. Perhaps, this is a bit dated and/or oxidized. Pairing: Widespread Panic - Fishwater > Drums > Fishwater, from 06/02/98 Montezuma Hall, San Diego State University

Pours a clear orange/dark amber with white head that dissipated very quickly. Aroma is sweet with some pine and alcohol but nothing is very strong. Taste is very bitter initially with pine and grapefruit. There are some hints of caramel malt but the hop flavors overpower it. Medium bodied with a dry finish. Not bad but the alcohol is noticeable. I prefer Sculpin but this is a solid beer. Next up is a Victory at Sea.

Bomber to cervoise. Pours clear orange amber. Fluffy white head. Aroma of orange, lemon zest, pine, earth, booze and caramel. Taste is caramel malts, pine resin and citrus. Boozy pine finish with some heat. Long-lasting finish.
