Uber fresh bomber. This chased a MTH Masala Mama IPA so I am trying to hard to be objective. Nice gold pour with white head. Tons of retention and lacing. Nose of floral hoppy goodness and citrus. Taste follows with hop bitterness up front and throughout. Very nice DIPA but actually a notch or two behind the above. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

22 oz bomber from Ballast Point (thanks Chiefbeer12) Aroma is remarkably similar to Sculpin, tropical fruits, pine, citrus. Pours a dark orange with thin head. Taste is also similar to Sculpin but has a much thicker mouth feel and a little bit more bitterness at the end. Awesome!!

Pours dark golden color with a couple fingers of white head. Aroma is citrus and LOADS of hops. Taste is a sweeter, maltier version of Sculpin with maybe just a bit less grapefruit flavor. Tons of hops in this bad boy. Great beer for a warm SoCal Father’s Day.

Orange color with a lasting offwhite head. Smell is grapefruit, and orange hoppiness and sweet malt. Sweet tasting with a light bitter finish. Well balanced.

bright orange with thick white head, excellent retention and great lacing. almost perfect. Aroma is mainly floral, light tangerine and orange. Taste is highly bitter with light pine. mostly citrus like tangerine, blood orange. mild grass flavor. malts are hidden well but they seem to be slightly sweet. Carbonation is very smooth but too carbonated so there are constant bubbles throughout the drink.

Old quick review from 2009 - Ballast Point makes a ton of beers but this is there only Double IPA and its a really good one. A great mixture of floral, citrus, and piney hops. Easy to drink and crisp. These guys are just amazing. The one – two punch of Sculpin and Dorado is one of the best out there.

Pours a slightly cloudy, golden amber/orange color with a two finger, frothy white head that slowly settles into a thick, lasting cap. Chunks of soapy lacing left behind. Dank, uber-fresh hop aroma with lots of earhy pine and sweet fruit notes along with subtle malt presence. The smell of hops fill up the room once I removed the cap. Pine needle and buds along with tropical/citrus notes and biscuity malt. Chewy full body with a blast of dry, earthy bitterness that is excellently countered by sweet tropical and citrus fruit notes along with a pale malt backbone. Sticky, dry pine needle followed by hints of pineapple, mango, grapefruitand orange peel. Biscuity malt backbone provides subtle balance without taking away from the hops at all. The ABV is noticeable with subtle heat in the finish but it’s really well masked considering the strength. Just an outstanding hop bomb of a beer.

Golden peach. Creamy, tight white head. Soft tangerine hop aromatics are tarnished by notes of resin and honey-soaked malt. Pointy carbonation. Slightly creamy. Initially juicy with tangerine and a vibrant cushion of orange pith. Dense pockets of oily resins coat the teeth and distribute sporadic intensity. Floral softness lurks beneath the feathery touch of lightly toasty malt dryness which keeps the oils from reaching oppressive levels. Plentiful soft citrus and hop flavor rather than predominant high-alpha bitterness, though the flavor profile of the hops isn’t particularly lustrous. Finishes with a bitter tease of orange zest fused with the succulence of nectarine juice and peach which effectively absorb creeping hop-derived chalkiness. This doesn’t quite make my heart sing, but it’s better than most American IPAs as it boasts abundant hop flavor to combat some of the resinous onslaught which this ultimately suffers from. Would love to see the alcohol at 8% or less...

slightly hazy orange amber with a medium sized fluffy white head. Huge Simcoe+ other Cascade family hop aromatics. Grapefruit, other zingy citrus, and resinous pine notes. Rich sweet citrus hop base, complementary. Hints of apricot, grapefruit, and citron in the finish with a reserved astringency and bitterness. Mouthfeel is medium large, slightly chewy, and slowly builds to a balanced dryness.
