4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 48FanInCali (492) - California, USA - JUN 23, 2012Uber fresh bomber. This chased a MTH Masala Mama IPA so I am trying to hard to be objective. Nice gold pour with white head. Tons of retention and lacing. Nose of floral hoppy goodness and citrus. Taste follows with hop bitterness up front and throughout. Very nice DIPA but actually a notch or two behind the above.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 luttonm (1629) - Belgrade, SERBIA - MAY 17, 2013
Draft at Bukowski’s Tavern in Cambridge, MA. Rich, smooth, balanced. Good forward hops, citrus and juicy but not over the top. Tasty.
3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 ryecatcher (349) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - MAY 15, 2013
Bomber. Pours a slightly hazy orangey-amber with a thin white head, good lacing. Nose is pineapple, malts and some alcohol. Mouth is medium bodied, citrus (grapefruit) hoppiness and bittersweet up front, which rides a malty backbone through to a looonggg bitter finish. Not too complex, but a decent DIPA all the same.
4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 zizzybalubba (1151) - Elizabeth City, North Carolina, USA - MAY 15, 2013
22 oz. bottle from Bruisin’ Ales, Asheville, NC (enjoy by August 9, 2013). Pours dark orange with a frothy off-white head. Aroma of clean pine, grapefruit rind, and pineapple. Great bitter hop flavor of grapefruit, grass, mango, pine needles, and pineapple. Just the right amount of malt to not so much balance but rather to tone down the hop assertiveness. Outstanding, of course. (Replaces an earlier review from Logan’s pre-GABF party, 2009, Denver, CO. Same score from the earlier review).

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 14/20 adeezhop (19) - port jeff sta, Alabama, USA - MAY 6, 2013
Not a terrible beer but there are far better choices to be made. Very strong alcohol taste far stronger than the abv. Still a decent choice in the dipa category. Most certainly a decent choice if available. 99 is way above this beers level I would say mid 80’s more like it.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 bbcd (82) - Austin, Texas, USA - MAY 6, 2013
pours a light clear amber with a rocky, off-white head and some irregular lacing. toffee, spruce, citrus, caramel, bread, lemon, heavy alcohol, resin, apricot. very bitter, medium sweetness, lightly sour. medium-full body, thick and creamy feel, moderate carb, lots of alcohol burn. overly boozy
4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 pinkie (115) - New York, USA - MAY 6, 2013
Poured a deep lemon yellow with an amber tint and a slight haze. A big head of soft creamy foam that dwindled like it had all day to a thick cap and collar. Sticky, beautiful lacing. Excellent retention. Looks so good. Nose is not as strong as you would expect to look at this beer but it smells great. Citrus, lemon, tangerine, lime, you can smell the hop resin, tropical, grassy and some good strong pale malt with a lot of caramel and sugar. Taste is awesome. It’s dry, crisp, refreshing, malt is deep and rich a little sugary, the hops are resiny and bitter with all the fruits washing over the palate. There was no alcohol on the nose but it is on the palate and it mingles well. Gentle carbonation and a good mouthfeel. This is a fantastic DIPA that comes right up to Stone for bitterness but stops before it becomes arrogant. Smooth and very well done.
